- چکیده انگلیسی: Lipids in liver wet and dry matter, liver moist and dry matter and their relationships were investigated based on species, sex and age in cows, buffaloes, sheep and goats. Mean percentage of lipids in liver wet and dry matter and liver dry matter in cows were 3.60%, 1.10%, 29.70%, and for buffaloes were 5.30%, 1.55%, 29.20%, sheep 3.00%, 0.83%, 27.90%, and goats 2.910%, 1.55% and 28.40%, respectively. The highest and lowest percentage of lipids in liver wet and dry matter was observed in buffaloes and sheep, and for the liver dry matter was recorded in cows and sheep, respectively. Analyses showed significant differences in liver parameters among ruminants (p < 0.01). Gender, except for goats, did not affect the animals' liver parameters. In overall 15.00% of buffaloes and 3.50% of cows showed over 10.00% lipids in liver, while none of small ruminants appeared to have over 6.00% lipids in liver. There was no correlation between liver lipid and liver dry matter. In conclusion mean percentage of lipid in liver dry matter in small ruminants was less than large ruminants. Liver dry matter was high in cows and low in sheep. Mean differences in liver parameters was significant, while the age and sex of the animals were not. Liver lipidosis in buffaloes seems greater than in cows, and in small ruminants it was negligible. No correlation was expected between liver parameters. Finally, on the basis of liver dry matter, the liver in ruminants ranked from cows to buffaloes, goats and sheep.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background and objectives: Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) seeds have been a well-known oil crop in the world for many centuries. Lignans are functionally important compartments of sesame. Sesamin and sesamol are the main sesame lignans, which have recently shown various activities with health benefits, like anti-oxidative, anti-proliferative, anti-atherosclerotic, anti-inflammatory and anticancer effects. The aim of this study was determination of sesamin and sesamol concentration in sesame seeds from three different regions of Iran with diverse climatic conditions (Dezful, Ardakan and Neka). In addition, the effect of roasting process on sesamin and sesamol content were investigated.
Methods: Analysis of sesamin and sesamol was performed using the mobile phase water: methanol (70:30) on a reversed phase ACE C18 with flow rate of 0.6 mL/min and UV detection at 290 nm.
Results: HPLC analysis revealed that the highest content of sesamin (1.156±0.002 mg/g of seeds) and sesamol (2.393±0.002 mg/g of seeds) were observed in roasted Dezful seeds samples and hulled roasted Dezful sesame seeds, respectively. The amount of sesamin and sesamol in roasted seeds was higher than unroasted samples. Conclusion: The present study showed that the roasting process and hot semi-arid climate increase the content of lignans in sesame seeds. Consuming sesame seeds with such characteristics will improve dietary lignan intake and has nutritive value. Moreover, sesame seed characterized by the highest amount of sesamin and sesamol is more strongly suggested for achieving biological properties of these components.

- چکیده: درماتوفیلوز بیماری باکتریایی پوست است. شرایط محیطی مثل بارش باران و حمام دادن گوسفندان را به بروز بیماری مستعد میسازند. بیماری با ضررهای اقتصادی به علت آسیب وسیع به پشم همراه است. در یک گله در مرکز ایران در پاییر 92 بیماری به صورت همه گیری مشاهده شد که علایم بالینی آن از درماتوفیلوریس تیپیک متفاوت بود. آلوپسی وسیع به همراه ترشحات چرکی از جراحات کاملاً برجسته بود. بیشترین جراحات در ناحیه سینهای دیده میشد. در بررسیهای تکمیلی عفونت ثانویه با سودوموناس آئروجینوزا و باکتریمی با منشأ استافیلوکوکوس تأیید گردید که عامل 0.16% مرگ و میر در گله بودند. برای تأیید تشخیص نمونه خون جهت انجام CBC، و کشت خون اخذ گردید. از جراحات لام مستقیم تهیه شد و نمونه بیوپسی نیز برای ارزیابیهای هیستوپاتولوژیک و کشت باکتریولوژیک اخذ گردید. لام مستقیم تهیه شده از جراحات پوستی با رنگ گیمسا و گرم رنگ آمیزی شدند. در بررسیهای میکروسکوپیک درماتوفیلوزیس تأیید گردید. در نمونههای آماده شده گرم و گیمسا رشتههای باکتری گرم مثبت با ظاهر تیپیک ریل آهن دیده شدند. در هیستوپاتولوژی هم فیلامانهای باکتری در اپیدرم دیده شدند. گله با پنی سیلین پروکائین mg/kg000/70 به صورت عضلانی دو بار در روز به مدت پنج روز درمان شد و بیماری تحت کنترل درآمد و تلفات متوقف گردید.
- چکیده انگلیسی: Dermatophilosis is a bacterial skin infection and wet conditions like, raining and dipping predispose sheep to it. A great economic loss can be caused by this disease because of its effect on the quality of wool. In Iran (near Saveh), there was an outbreak of the disease in a herd and the clinical manifestation was different from that of typical dermatophilosis. Diffuse wide alopecic area accompanied by large amount of purulent discharges were seen. The main lesions were located at the thoracic area. Secondary infection caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa and bacteremia caused by staphylococcus was diagnosed and is considered to be the cause of 0.16% mortality.For diagnosis blood samples were obtained for CBC, and bacteriological culture and direct smear were taken from skin lesions. Biopsy was also prepared from skin lesions for histopathologic study and bacteriologic culture. Direct microscopic examination was made on Giemsa-stained smear prepared from crusts and their underlying tissue. Gram stained smear was also prepared from underlying crusts of skin. After bacteriological and histopathological evaluation, Dermatophilus was determined. A typical railroad track of Gram positive bacteria was seen in Gram and Giemsa stained smear. Filamentous bacteria in the epidermis were seen in histopathological samples. Infection was controlled by treating herd intramuscularly with 70,000 mg/kg BW procaine penicillin G, twice daily for 5 consecutive days.
