- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Jaundice is one of the most common health problems among neonates, involving almost 60% of full-term newborns, therefore requiring consequent phototherapy. Since phototherapy has several complications, considering alternative treatments has long been of pivotal importance. Therefore, the present study aimed at comparing the effectiveness of bath and massage in bilirubin levels in neonates.
Methods: This was a randomized clinical trial conducted on neonates who were born in Zeyaei Hospital in Ardakan, Iran, in 2018. A total of 90 neonates were selected using the convenience sampling method and then assigned into two intervention groups (i.e., bath group and massage group) and a control group through random allocation method. In the bath group, the neonates were bathed immediately after birth. In the massage group, the neonates received field massage twice a day each lasting 15 min for 5 consecutive days. The neonates belonging to the control group were served with routine care. The jaundice meter China 800 (jk) device was used to measure the skin bilirubin levels of the neonates in the three groups in a scheduled manner (i.e., days 1, 3, 5, and 7) at 9 a.m. The data were analyzed using the ANOVA, Chi-square test, Tukey's post hoc test, and repeated measures ANOVA in SPSS software (version 18).
Results: There was no significant difference between the mean bilirubin scores of the three groups over the first, third, and fifth days. A significant difference was found between the mean bilirubin scores of the bath and massage groups compared with that of the control group on the seventh day (P=0.001). Also, no significant difference was seen between the mean bilirubin levels of the bath and massage groups on the seventh day.
Conclusion: The findings revealed that there was no difference between the bath and massage techniques in reducing neonatal jaundice. Therefore, both techniques can be utilized in this regard.- انتشار مقاله: 31-04-1397

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: The sudden exposure of premature newborns to a cold and dry environment can lead to hypothermia. This study aimed at comparing the effectiveness of two polyethylene covers on the body temperature and oxygen saturation of premature neonates.
Methods: This experimental study was conducted on 72 premature newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of Shahid Sadoughi Hospital in Yazd, Iran. The study subjects were randomly assigned into three groups, including the neonates with polyethylene head cap, polyethylene body bag, and routine care. The data were collected using a thermometer and a pulse oximeter. The data analysis was performed through descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), repeated measures ANOVA, and Tukey test using SPSS (version 18) software.
Results: There was a significant difference in the mean body temperature of control and intervention groups immediately after their NICU admission and 1 h later. Other significant differences were found in the mean of oxygen saturation belonging to the control group and the hat group upon admission and 1 h later. Also, the mean scores of oxygen saturation belonging to the control group were compared with those of the bag group, and the differences were significantly different 1 h after the admission.
Conclusion: In the light of these findings, the application of both polyethylene head cap and body bag can maintain the body temperature and oxygen saturation in the premature neonates transferring to the NICU. In particular, the head cap seems to better improve than oxygen saturation.- انتشار مقاله: 01-04-1397

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Palliative care is a series of actions aiming to offer support to parents and their infants in order to improve their quality of life. Despite optimal outcomes, the provision of palliative care for infants and achieving these outcomes may be hardly feasible. The present study aimed to investigate the barriers to palliative care and gain insight into the solutions. Accordingly, the obstacles were identified and classified into three categories of parent-related barriers (parental request for continuing treatment, cultural background, and religious beliefs), barriers concerning healthcare providers (attitude toward palliative care, death, and life values, religious beliefs, knowledge and skills in palliative care, and ethical distress), and barriers within the healthcare system (unclear policies regarding the implementation of palliative care, inadequate support from caretakers, lack of educational programs, insufficient personnel, unprepared environment, lack of technological requirements, and lack of access to consultants). Each category was discussed, and relevant solutions were provided.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background
The professional nurses’ activities, behaviors, and manners are classified as nursing care behaviors. Nurses spend considerable amounts of time taking care of patients and their families; however, their opinions about their caring behaviors are different from the care receivers’ views. Hence, this study aimed to elaborate the nursing care behaviors perceived by the parents of hospitalized children.
Materials and Methods
This qualitative study was a conventional content analysis. Eighteen parents of hospitalized childrenin Yazd hospitals (Governmental and Private) were selected on the basis of a purposive sampling method and interviewed using the semi-structured interview (with the questions such as : "Why was your child hospitalized in this ward?", "How was the nurses’ behavior during the hospitalization regarding nursing care?"). The data were analyzed using the qualitative content analysis method.
Results
The data analysis resulted in the main theme of "fluctuation of trust in care", comprising the 8 subcategories of themes including "relieving/agitating presence", "attraction/rejection of parental participation", "respecting/ disrespecting" and "constructive/agitating communication".
Conclusion
The parents of hospitalized children are experiencing a variety of caring behaviors that might build or destroy their trust in nursing cares. Therefore, modification of caring behaviors can promote parents’- trust and their consequent satisfaction with the nursing cares.- انتشار مقاله: 05-02-1396

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective: Over the past three decades, more than 100 instruments have been developed that measure the quality of
life. In order to ensure accuracy and authenticity of the measurements, it is essential to utilize the instruments that have
proper psychometric properties. Therefore, this critical review study aimed at comparing the instruments that measured
the life quality of cancer patients in Iranian studies. Methods: In this study, Persian articles published in Iranian databases
(IranMedex, Irandoc Magiran, SID) from 2006 to 2016 were searched, using the following keywords: nursing, cancer,
tools, scale, and quality of life. A total number of 159 articles were obtained, of which 33 articles complied with the
inclusion criteria of this study and thereby were reviewed. Results: Sixty nine percent of the articles explored the life
quality of adult females with breast cancer, and the most-commonly used instrument was a quality-of-Life instrument
for use in international clinical trials in oncology belonging to the European Organization for Research and Treatment of
Cancer. More than half of the studies referred solely to Iranian studies to address psychometric properties. Though, no
method was introduced in order to address the validity and reliability of instruments in the articles under consideration.
Conclusion: According to the findings, the studies which explored the validity and reliability of instruments concerning
the life quality of cancer patients were scarce. Therefore, the researchers should pay further attention to the validity
and reliability of instruments for selection of an appropriate instrument in this area of research. Also, the researchers
are encouraged to further study the psychometric properties of relevant instruments so that optimal generalizability
and authenticity of their findings can be attained.- انتشار مقاله: 31-01-1397
