- چکیده انگلیسی: Background & aim: Most maternal mortalities are preventable; however, there are significant regional and global disparities in this regard. Maternal Death Surveillance and Response (MDSR) launched in India is a continuous cycle of identification, notification, and review of maternal mortalities to improve the quality of care and prevent future deaths. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in India conducted five national capacity-building workshops for MDSR during October 2017 and February 2018 with the objective of training medical doctors as future trainers and developing competency-based skills for each component of the program.
Methods: A training evaluation study was carried out on 144 workshop participants. Workshop outcomes in terms of trainees’ knowledge were assessed using a 20-item pre-post questionnaire and skill evaluations through group work. The data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 25). The difference in proportions was ascertained using the Chi-square test.
Results: The mean score of the participants (n=144) increased from 13.2±2.3 in the pretest to 17±1.9 in the posttest (maximum score: 20). Themes generated during community and facility review sessions indicated the need for the capacity building of peripheral health facilities, sensitization for mandatory birth preparedness, complication readiness of all pregnant mothers by the frontline health workers, and regional-level MDSR training of all stakeholders involved in maternal mortality reporting.
Conclusion: Training sessions were effective in the skill development of the participants in understanding the structure and function of the MDSR program.- انتشار مقاله: 18-11-1397

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Outbreak of novel disease COVID-19 led to rapid and instantaneous spread of information internationally through the growing popular use of internet and social media. Infodemic leads to stress-related health effects like headache, sleeplessness, anxiety. Our study was conducted to assess the perceived information overload related to COVID-19, its associated factors and its effects among medical students of a medical college.
Methods: A cross sectional analytical study was conducted in a medical college in Delhi among the 240 medical undergraduates during March-April 2020. The data related to perceived information overload, socio-demographic details, platforms in which Infodemic is felt and health and academic effects of Infodemic were collected using semi-structured self-administered questionnaire. Data was collected in EpiCollect and analysed using STATA statistical software version 14. A p value less than 0.05 is considered significant.
Results: Out of 240 students included in the study, 68.3%(95% CI:61.9-74.1) perceived the presence of Infodemic. Female gender(OR=3.9, 95%CI:2.1-7.3) and upper socio-economic status(OR=14.2, 95%CI: 4.4-45.2) were significantly associated with the perceived presence of Infodemic. Television(73.1%) was the most common platform in which Infodemic is perceived followed by WhatsApp(53.6%). Stress related health effects were there in 84(51.2%) students and Infodemic had affected the academic learning processes in 104(63.4%) students.
Conclusion: In conclusion, our study observed that Infodemic was perceived in two third of the study participants with television and WhatsApp being the most common platforms. Half of the students who perceived Infodemic had stress-related health effects and two third of them reported that Infodemic affected their learning processes.- انتشار مقاله: 16-03-1399

- چکیده انگلیسی:
Background: Breast cancer is a major public health problem globally. The ongoing epidemiological, socio-cultural and demographic transition by accentuating the associated risk factors has disproportionately increased the incidence of breast cancer cases and resulting mortality in developing countries like India. Early diagnosis with rapid initiation of treatment reduces breast cancer mortality. Therefore awareness of breast cancer risk and a willingness to undergo screening are essential. The objective of the present study was to assess the knowledge and practices relating to screening for breast cancer among women in Delhi. Methods: Data were obtained from 222 adult women using a pretested self-administered questionnaire. Results: Rates for knowledge of known risk factors of breast cancer were: family history of breast cancer, 59.5%; smoking, 57.7%; old age, 56.3%; lack of physical exercise, 51.9%; lack of breastfeeding, 48.2%; late menopause, 37.4%; and early menarche, 34.7%. Women who were aged < 30 and those who were unmarried registered significantly higher knowledge scores (p ≤ 0.01). Breast self-examination (BSE) was regularly practiced at-least once a month by 41.4% of the participants. Some 48% knew mammography has a role in the early detection of breast cancer. Since almost three-fourths of the participants believed BSE could help in early diagnosis of breast cancer, which is not supported by evidence, future studies should explore the consequences of promoting BSE at the potential expense of screening mammography. Conclusion: Our findings highlight the need for awareness generation among adult women regarding risk factors and methods for early detection of breast cancer.- انتشار مقاله: 17-06-1396
