The professional nurses’ activities, behaviors, and manners are classified as nursing care behaviors. Nurses spend considerable amounts of time taking care of patients and their families; however, their opinions about their caring behaviors are different from the care receivers’ views. Hence, this study aimed to elaborate the nursing care behaviors perceived by the parents of hospitalized children.
Materials and Methods
This qualitative study was a conventional content analysis. Eighteen parents of hospitalized childrenin Yazd hospitals (Governmental and Private) were selected on the basis of a purposive sampling method and interviewed using the semi-structured interview (with the questions such as : "Why was your child hospitalized in this ward?", "How was the nurses’ behavior during the hospitalization regarding nursing care?"). The data were analyzed using the qualitative content analysis method.
Results
The data analysis resulted in the main theme of "fluctuation of trust in care", comprising the 8 subcategories of themes including "relieving/agitating presence", "attraction/rejection of parental participation", "respecting/ disrespecting" and "constructive/agitating communication".
Conclusion
The parents of hospitalized children are experiencing a variety of caring behaviors that might build or destroy their trust in nursing cares. Therefore, modification of caring behaviors can promote parents’- trust and their consequent satisfaction with the nursing cares.- انتشار مقاله: 05-02-1396

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Purpose: Satisfaction is the result of a process; to assess satisfaction, the care recipients’ experiences of the services received should be understood and efforts should be made to understand how these experiences have formed that satisfaction. The purpose was to understand the processes of satisfaction with nursing care in parents of hospitalized children.
Methods: The present grounded theory study was conducted on 25 participants selected through theoretical sampling and examined using in-depth semi-structured interviews. Interviews where promptly transcribed after they each ended. The data obtained were analyzed concurrently with their collection based on Strauss and Corbin’s method of data analysis (1998) in three steps: open, axial and selective coding.
Results: The main concern of the parents in the process of satisfaction with nursing care was the “influence of insecurity”. The parents were put in an unstable context of care, upon which they resorted to the “prudent gaining of certainty” strategy. In this process, intrapersonal and extra personal triggers acted as facilitators and personal weaknesses as inhibitors, and “fluctuating trust” was the result of the process.
Conclusions: Gaining certainty plays an important role in the formation of satisfaction with nursing care, and the particular characteristics of the context of care have a crucial effect on the intensity or weakness of the developed trust; eventually, the developed certainty results in trust in the received care, which further emphasizes the importance of nurses' efforts for facilitating an ascertaining care.- انتشار مقاله: 10-07-1394

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Higher education plays a key role in helping students achieve civility, however uncivil behaviors are growing. The aim of this study was to assess and compare the educators and students perceptions of frequency and importance of the incivility of nursing students.
Methods: In this descriptive comparative study,178 nursing students were selected by a stratified random sampling . By purposive sampling,Sixty-seven educators of the Lorestan University of Medical Sciences were participated. Data were collected using Incivility in Nursing Education-Revised Survey. All analyses were carried out using SPSS, version 20 and descriptive statistics and chi-square test and variance analysis.
Results: Educators and students, disagreed on the frequency and importance of some uncivil behaviors. The uncivil behaviors most experienced by educators were: “expressing disinterest about course content”( %73), and “ arriving late for class”(%69. 9). According to students, the uncivil behaviors most experienced were: “ expressing disinterest about course content”(%78.6), and “ using a media device in class (%70. 2).Also,from the perspectives of educators and students, the maximum mean score belonged to“ physical violence ”(3.9±0.53, 3.84±0.58),“ property damage”( 3.87±0.49 , 3.83±0.59),and “ physical threats or harm to others”( 3.87±0.58 , 3.83±0.59) items, which indicated the high importance of these items. In contrast, the lowest mean score belonged to“ demanding make-up exams, extensions”( 2.19±1.07,1.99±1.08), and “being distant and cold toward others” items( 2.33±0.9,2.41±1.02).
Conclusion:Given the similarities and differences between the views of educators and students on the importance and frequency of uncivil behaviors, the necessity of designing strategies tot increasing their awareness of civilization, rooting out the causes of such behaviors, or considering the topic in undergraduate nursing curriculum are felt.- انتشار مقاله: 01-06-1398

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective: Over the past three decades, more than 100 instruments have been developed that measure the quality of
life. In order to ensure accuracy and authenticity of the measurements, it is essential to utilize the instruments that have
proper psychometric properties. Therefore, this critical review study aimed at comparing the instruments that measured
the life quality of cancer patients in Iranian studies. Methods: In this study, Persian articles published in Iranian databases
(IranMedex, Irandoc Magiran, SID) from 2006 to 2016 were searched, using the following keywords: nursing, cancer,
tools, scale, and quality of life. A total number of 159 articles were obtained, of which 33 articles complied with the
inclusion criteria of this study and thereby were reviewed. Results: Sixty nine percent of the articles explored the life
quality of adult females with breast cancer, and the most-commonly used instrument was a quality-of-Life instrument
for use in international clinical trials in oncology belonging to the European Organization for Research and Treatment of
Cancer. More than half of the studies referred solely to Iranian studies to address psychometric properties. Though, no
method was introduced in order to address the validity and reliability of instruments in the articles under consideration.
Conclusion: According to the findings, the studies which explored the validity and reliability of instruments concerning
the life quality of cancer patients were scarce. Therefore, the researchers should pay further attention to the validity
and reliability of instruments for selection of an appropriate instrument in this area of research. Also, the researchers
are encouraged to further study the psychometric properties of relevant instruments so that optimal generalizability
and authenticity of their findings can be attained.- انتشار مقاله: 31-01-1397
