- چکیده انگلیسی: Kimura’s disease (KD) is a chronic inflammatory disorder primarily seen in male Asians during the second and third decades of life. Clinically, it presents as solitary or multiple subcutaneous nodules, predominantly in the head and neck region, typically in the pre auricular region, forehead, and scalp. The etiology of Kimura disease is still unknown. This disorder should be suspected when the clinical triad of painless unilateral cervical adenopathy, hypereosinophilia, and hyper-IgE is present. We report a case of KD with multiple subcutaneous nodules in the parotid, submandibular and posterior auricular regions, hypereosinophilia and hyper IgE levels.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Localized Leishmania Lymphadenitis (L.L.L) is a self limited clinical presentation of cutaneous leishmaniasis. Microscopic findings in L.L.L are very similar to Toxoplasma lymphasenitis. In all cases, an intensive microscopic search should be done for Leishman bodies. In this study, we describe our microscopic findings and results of our immnohistochemical (IHC) study with a panel of monoclonal antibodies against T-Cells, B-Cells, histiocytes, Langerhans cells, and dendritic reticulum cells. Morphologic and immunohistochemical study in this case showed expanded paracortical tissue with many small clusters of epithelioid histiocytes and large reactive B follicles. Immature sinus histiocytosis in subcapsular and trabecular sinuses was also seen.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background and Objectives: The cause and pathophysiology of rheumatoid arthritis has not been fully understood and an experimental model of this disease is essential for research on the problem. In this research study, establishment and histopathological changes of chronic arthritis due to intra-articular antigen injection was used as a model of experimental rheumatoid arthritis. Materials and Methods: Thirty three New-Zeeland white rabbits were sensitized by subcutaneous injection of combination of methylated bovine serum albumin (MBSA) and Freund’s complete adjuvant (FCA) at days 1 and 14. Sensitized animals at day 28 received intra-articular injections of MBSA. At days 7, 14, 21, and 28 post-injection, excised knee joints were investigated for routine light microscopic changes. Results: It was found out that at day 7 there are fibrinous exudates in the joint space and pericapsular soft tissue, edematous synovial villi, and an intact cartilaginous site of joint. At day 14, lymphoid follicle formation at pericapsular area, short and widening of synovial villi, superficial erosion of joint cartilage (perichondritis) was observed. Thereafter, at day 21 increased secondary lymphoid follicles with active germinal centers at pericapsular areas, papillary hyperplasia of the synovial villi, thinning of the cartilaginous site of joint with mononuclear cellular infiltrates (chondritis) was noted. In addition, day 28 was demarcated by continuation of the chondritis and beginning of osteitis, granulation tissue formation (Pannus) at cartilaginous site of joint, and fibrotic changes of the synovial villi. Rare findings including pseudocyst space and palisading ranuloma at the pericapsular area was also observed. Conclusion: Antigen-induced chronic arthritis in the knee joint of the rabbit is a good experimental model to evaluate the pathogenesis and/or effects of drug interferences in the rheumatoid arthritis.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: IGF-1 and certain other cytokines have been shown to exert inflammatory/anti-inflammatory roles in chronic joint diseases. Objective: To assess the effect of IGF-1, IL-27 and IL-35, their interaction and their receptor expression in a rheumatoid arthritis model. Methods: Freund’s adjuvant-induced chronic joint inflammation was operated on 160 male rats. Animals were divided into histopathology and receptor expression groups, each composed of 10 subgroups including; control, vehicle, IGF-1, IL-27, IL-35, their antagonists, IGF-1+IL-27 antagonist and IGF-1+IL-35 antagonist. After two weeks, vehicle or agonist/antagonists were injected into the joint space every other day until day 28 where joint histopathology was performed. The expression of IGF-1, IL-27 and IL-35 receptors were assessed by western blot analysis. Results: IGF-1 did not show pro- or anti- inflammatory functions; endogenous IL-27 and IL-35, on the other hand, exerted inflammatory effects. IL-27 and IL-35 antagonists exerted the highest anti-inflammatory effects. The total inflammation scores were 0.55 ± 0.06, 4.63 ± 0.40, 3.63 ± 0.60, 2.50 ± 0.38 and 1.63 ± 0.40 regarding control, vehicle, IGF-1 Ant., IL-27 Ant. and IL-35Ant., respectively. IGF-1 receptor expression was reduced in chronic joint inflammation and all three antagonists augmented the IGF-1 receptor expression. IL-27 and IL-35 receptors were up-regulated by chronic joint inflammation. Conclusion: Overall, the results demonstrated the pro-inflammatory role of endogenous IL-27 and IL-35 along with the over expression of their receptors in chronic joint inflammation. IL-27 and IL-35 antagonists exerted the most anti-inflammatory effects and increased IGF-1 receptor expression. These two antagonists may be potential agents for new treatment strategies in chronic joint inflammatory diseases.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective: In this study, we elucidated the ameliorative effect of aqueous extract of leaves of Mumiju against acetic acid-induced experimental colitis in male rats.
Materials and Methods: The animals were randomly divided into four groups (n=7) including I: control group, II: vehicle group (injected with 2 ml acetic acid (4%) intra rectally), III and IV: treatment groups which received Mumiju (250 mg/kg) orally or intraperitoneally for 4 consecutive days after ulcer induction. Ulcer index, severity of inflammation, colonic levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione (GSH), and malondialdehyde (MDA), and histological changes were recorded after the treatment regimen of 4 days.
Results: The ulcer index, severity of inflammation and colonic MDA levels were increased following intrarectal instillation of acetic acid. Also, acetic acid significantly decreased the SOD and GSH levels. Treatment with Mumiju for 4 days exhibited significantly lowered oxidative stress, while elevated of SOD and GSH levels. Regenerative-healing patterns also was seen by histopathological findings after treatment with Mumiju.
Conclusion: The present investigation demonstrates that Mumiju could be regarded as a herb with potent therapeutic value in the amelioration of experimental colitis in laboratory animals by modulation of oxidant- antioxidant system.- انتشار مقاله: 12-07-1396

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: A number of neuroimaging studies on human addicts have revealed that abuse of Methamphetamine (METH) can induce neurodegenerative changes in various brain regions like the cerebral cortex and cerebellum. Although the underlying mechanisms of METH-induced neurotoxicity have been studied, the cellular and molecular mechanisms of METH-induced neurotoxicity remain to be clarified. Previous studies implicated that cannabinoid type 1 receptors (CB1Rs) exert neuroprotective effects on several models of cerebral toxicity, but their role in METH-induced neurotoxicity has been rarely investigated. Moreover, the cerebellum was considered as a potential target to evaluate the effects of cannabinoids on locomotion activity as the CB1Rs are most widely distributed in the molecular layer of cerebellum. Therefore, the present study was carried out to evaluate whether neurodegeneration induced in the cerebellum tissue implicated in locomotion deficit induced by METH.Methods: In the current study, open field test was used to examine locomotor activity. Using hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining, morphology of the cerebellar vermis was investigated after repeated exposure to METH. Then, the effects of CB1Rs antagonist [SR17141A, 10 mg/kg, intraperitoneally (IP)] and CB1Rs agonist [WIN55, 212-2 (WIN), 3 mg/kg] against METH-induced neurodegeneration and locomotor deficit were assessed.Findings: The results of the present study demonstrated that repeated exposure to METH increased cerebellar degeneration level as compared to the saline and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) groups. In addition, METH-treated rats showed hyperactivity as compared to the saline and DMSO groups. Pretreatment with WIN significantly attenuated neurodegeneration and hyperactivity induced by METH.Conclusion: The findings of this study provided evidence that CB1Rs may serve as a therapeutic strategy for attenuation of METH-induced locomotor deficits.

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Opium addiction alters immune responses to stresses such as an injury due to changing the secretion of cytokines. The present study assessed the effect of opium addiction on the cytokines [tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα), interferon-γ (IFN-γ), interleukin-4 (IL-4), and IL-10] before and after laparotomy. Methods: Male rats were randomly divided into control and opium addicted (n = 20). Then, cytokines were measured before surgery, immediately after surgery (within 30-60 minutes) and 24 hours after surgery. Findings: IFN-γ was raised in an addicted group in three phases of the study as compared to that of the control group. IL-4 in opium addicted group decreased in two phases after surgery compared to the control group. IL-4 was lower after surgery in comparison to before surgery in the opium addicted group. The difference in IL-10 and TNFα levels was not statistically significant in the all groups measured in three phases of the investigation. Conclusion: The results revealed that opium addiction can increase plasma level of IFN-γ in rats and decrease plasma level of IL-4 after surgical stress. It seems that opium addicted rats are a more susceptible to increased inflammation.
