- چکیده انگلیسی: This work deals with the interaction of P-waves between a moving central crack and a pair of outer cracks situated at the interface of an orthotropic layer and an elastic half-space. Initially, we considered a two-dimensional elastic wave equation in orthotropic medium. The Fourier transform has been applied to convert the basic problem to solve the set of four integral equations. These set of integral equations have been solved to to get the analytical expressions for the stress intensity factor (SIF) and crack opening displacements (COD) by using the finite Hilbert transform technique and Cooke’s result. The main objective of this work is to investigate the dynamic stress intensity factors and crack opening displacement at the tips of the cracks. The aims of the study of these physical quantities (SIF, COD) is the prediction of possible arrest of the cracks within a certain range of crack velocity by monitoring applied load. SIF and COD have been depicted graphically for various types of orthotropic materials. We presented a parametric study to explore the influence of crack growing and propagation. This result is very much applicable in bridges, roads, and buildings fractures.

- چکیده: The postharvest vase life of cut roses was studied to determine the effects of various physiological factors that influence the vase life of cut flower.
Cut roses were obtained from commercial area of Siliguri. To assess the effect of preservatives on the postharvest life of rose, cut flowers were treated with following preservative solutions: fixed amount of citric acid (CA) (300 mg/ml) and 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) (200 mg/ml) with various concentrations (1% to 8%) of sucrose solution. Each treatment consisted of 3 replicates. Cut roses were treated with different solutions and were kept at normal room temperature (20o C) under normal day light and natural ventilation. The biochemical parameters such as phenol, flavonol content, total soluble sugar, reducing sugar, non-reducing sugar, and for antioxidant property 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging activity was determined in flowers treated for 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 days, respectively. The physiological parameters such as vase life, water uptake, transpiration rate and water balance were also observed. The results demonstrated that the flowers which were treated with 5% of sucrose extended the vase life of cut flower from 4 to 8 days by improving the carbohydrate supply and reducing oxidative stress mediated damages during rose flower senescence.- چکیده انگلیسی: The postharvest vase life of cut roses was studied to determine the effects of various physiological factors that influence the vase life of cut flower.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Transmission of blast waves is a complex phenomenon and the characteristics vary with blast design parameters and geo-technical properties of medium. Frequency of vibration and triggering component for structural excitation generally quantifies safe vibration magnitude. At closer distance or higher elevations than the blast locations, vertical or transverse component will be the first arrival to trigger the sensor for monitoring and at far off distances longitudinal component triggers the sensor to monitor. Similarly, for shorter depth of blastholes and wider blast geometries, vertical or transverse component triggers the sensor to monitor even for longer distances of measurement. Analyzing the cause of such occurrence, the paper firstly puts forward a mathematical model to illustrate the same. Thereafter, considering single-degree of freedom for dynamic analysis of structures, the paper communicates that incident particle velocity exiting a structure to vibrate should be considered to limit vibration magnitude for safety of structures.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Rhinosporidiosis is a granulomatous disorder caused by Rhinosporidium seeberi, an aquatic parasite. It spreads through contaminated water and soil. It frequently involves the nasal cavity and nasopharynx. Disseminated or systemic lesions are rare. A 56 year old man presented with multiple tumor like lesions all over the body in our cancer institute in April 2012. Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) from the skin lesions revealed many sporangia and spores of R. seeberi. He had history of nasal mass being removed by excision and was immunocompetent. Histopathological examination and periodic acid Schiff (PAS) stain confirmed it to be disseminated rhinosporidiosis. His accessible lesions were excised with cautery and he was put on oral dapsone therapy. He did not show recurrence till six months of therapy. A common lesion with an uncommon presentation should not be missed which can increase the morbidity and even mortality in such a case.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Nodular hidradenoma or clear cell hidradenoma is a rare adnexal tumor arising from the eccrine glands. Case Report: A 60-year old female presented to the surgical out-patient clinic with complaints of breast lump of one year duration. Fine needle aspirate (FNA) of the lump yielded fluidly aspirate mixed with hemorrhage. On Giemsa-stained smears, a possibility of benign cystic lesion was considered. A provisional diagnosis of nodular hidradenoma was made. Additional sections were taken to rule out another component which revealed no other cell type. Periodic Acid Schiff’s (PAS) stain showed diastase sensitive positivity in the cytoplasm of tumor cells. The tumor cells were negative for estrogen and progesterone receptor but were positive for smooth muscle antigen, confirming the final diagnosis of nodular hidradenoma. Conclusion: To conclude, awareness amongst both the clinicians and pathologists for the possibility of diagnosing NH is mandatory and it should always be kept as differential diagnoses in the tumors of nipple and subareolar region to avoid unwarranted mastectomy and lymph node dissection.

- چکیده انگلیسی: This work aims at the modeling of bio-sorption of cadmium(II) onto physically and chemically activated Cajanus cajan (Pigeon pea) husks. Experimental data obtained were fitted to a number of isotherm and kinetic models, and the results interpreted. The monolayer Cd(II) bio-sorption capacities of the husk were found to considerably increase by 2.82 times due to chemical activation, for bio-sorption from a solution containing an initial Cd(II) concentration of 100 mg/L and by about 1.78 times for a solution containing an initial Cd(II) concentration of 150 mg/L. Further, the BackPropagation Artificial Neural Network (BP-ANN) was applied to understand the accuracy and prediction of isotherm and kinetic data. The tangent sigmoid transfer function was used at the input to hidden layer whereas a linear function was used at output layer. The isotherm and kinetic data were distributed into training (65%) and testing (35%) phase. The training, testing, and prediction by BP-ANN were found to be adequate, with an absolute relative percentage error of 2.1827 and correlation coefficient R2of 0.9967 and 0.9863 at prediction for isotherm and kinetic studies, respectively. Comparison of BP-ANN and experimental results indicated that the prediction model is capable of predicting the bio-sorption effectiveness with good accuracy.

- چکیده انگلیسی: This study was objectively done to assess the practice of organic farming and employment opportunities, compare the income generated from organic and inorganic products and identify the problems faced by farmers from organic farming system. Semi structure questionnaire survey, questionnaire, key informant interview and market survey were done to collect primary data and these were analyzed. The result showed that, total 137 and 99 employments were created by organic and inorganic farming. The organic farmers use the compost but the inorganic farmers used the chemical fertilizers. Liquid extracted from garlic and Azadirachta indica was used as pesticides in organic farming. The highest price difference was. US$ 0.18 for cucumber i.e, while the price difference for organic cauliflower was US$ 0.09. Similarly, the price difference of broccoli was only US$ 0.04. But the organic and inorganic price of cabbage, spinach, garlic, coriander and radish were recorded US$ 0.43, US$ 0.09, US$ 1.30, US$ 0.09 and US$ 0.43 respectively. Rich organic farmers were earning US$ 8677.54 annually this was US$ 2603.26 by rich inorganic farmers. Similarly, medium organic farmers and inorganic farmers were earning US$ 3123.92 and US$ 1561.96 respectively while poor organic and inorganic farmers are earning US$ 650.82 and US$ 433.88 respectively. Unavailable of good seeds, lack of organic fertilizer, slow production in initial year, lack of government support, irrigation, price difference, haphazard use of fertilizers and pesticides were recorded as the major problems in organic and inorganic farming. This study will be useful to develop the policy.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Ecotourism is growing business in Nepal due to domestic and international visitors. Specifically, natural lakes in Ramsar sites are very potential avenues for boating, scenic beauty and study the aquatic ecosystem. However Eichhornia crassipes has been threatening the beauty, ecosystem and eco-tourism business. This research was objectively carried out to explore income generation from ecotourism and determine socio-economic management of Eichhornia crassipes for manure or biobriquette. Four Ramsar sites namely Beeshazari, Maipokhari, Lakes Clusters of Pokhara and Jagdishpur Lakes were selected for the study. Data were collected through expert consultation organizing four workshops, direct observation and sampling. Meanwhile record of manpower, removal cost and utilization of Eichhornia crassipes were also collected. Affected sites of Eichhornia crassipes were calculated analyzing the current image of Google earth pro using ArcGIS. Samples were collected establishing sixty plots of 1m×1m and these were analyzed. Altogether about US$ 785260 was earned from tourism business between 2011 to 2015. The highest income was generated about US$ 397500 between 2011 to 2015 from visitors of Lakes of Pokhara. Removal cost of Eichhornia crassipes was the highest about US$ 108.09 ha-1 of Beeshazari Lakes in 2015. Farmers could save cost about US$ 31931 using Eichhornia crassipes as manure and that could be nearly US$ 38315 for biobriquette in 2015. The B/C ratio, NPV and Profit Index could be nearly 6.13, 96059.91 and 7175.11 using Eichhornia crassipes of Beeshazari Lakes as manure while 4.81, 105868.50 and 12415.63 using it as biobriquette. The study could contribute design the ecotourism policy.

our free lands, open sky, ponds, lakes; actually our breathing spaces. Sometimes for zoning policies, migration or
transferal of a particular business or activity, a place like waterfronts, body of water, military or industrial sites can lost
its importance, kept vacant and become a dead place. These are all called LOST SPACES in urban context. Renewal
of the lost spaces might open up the new visions. This paper will discuss about one of these lost spaces; an urban water
body and its renewal process. Under a proper design and guidelines method, a lost water body might open up the new
opportunities to make the urban life more sustainable; where architecture, landscape and water can build up a synthesis.
We can achieve social equity, economic progression, environmental education, vegetation as well as a breathing space
