- چکیده انگلیسی: In this work, the hydrophobic modification of TiO2 nanoparticles (HTiO2) was carried out by reacting with dodecylphosphonic acid (DDPA) and hexylamine solution. A facile approach of the self-assembly technique was used for the coating of hydrophobic HTiO2 layer over the microporous polypropylene (PP) membrane. The self-assembled layer was formed between the interface of trimesoyl chloride (TMC) (in hexane) and trimethylamine (in water) solutions. The high porosity for the coated membranes ascribed to the selfassembled trimesic acid (TMA) layer and its potential to generate open and loosely packed, two-dimensional hydrogen-bond networks on the membrane surface. The dispersion of HTiO2 was accomplished in the TMC in hexane leading hydrophobic and porous surfaces than the neat PP membrane. The initial average pore size of the PP membrane was reduced from 0.4 μm to 0.2 μm with a coating of 2.0 wt% of HTiO2. The new membranes showed high reliability, high rejection, and water flux during the real seawater desalination tested in direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD) configuration. The maximum transmembrane permeate flux of 45.4 kg/m2h with >98% salt rejection was obtained for the coating layer with 2.0 wt% HTiO2 at 80ºC demonstrating the future potential application towards seawater desalination.

- چکیده انگلیسی: A new sensitive, specific, precise and accurate stability indicating reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic (RP-HPLC) method was developed and validated for the determination of related substances of telmisartan drug substance. The method was developed to separate possible degradation and process related impurities. The method was developed on symmetry shield RP 8 (150 mm x 4.6 mm, 3.5 µm) column using 0.05% trifluoroacetic acid and acetonitrile as mobile phase in gradient elution. The eluents were monitored at 230 nm by UV-Visible detector. Telmisartan and its eleven impurities were well resolved by using these conditions. The limit of detection (LOD) for telmisartan and each of its impurities (Impurity-II, Impurity-III, Impurity-IV, Impurity-V, Impurity-VI, Impurity-VII, Impurity-IX, Impurity-X, Impurity-XI) were 0.01 (% w/w) and that of Impurity-I, Impurity-VIII were 0.02 (% w/w). The limit of quantitation (LOQ) for telmisartan and each of its impuries (Impurity-II, Impurity-III, Impurity-IV, Impurity-V, Impurity-VI, Impurity-VII, Impurity-IX, Impurity-X, Impurity-XI) were 0.03 (% w/w) and that of Impurity-I and Impurity-VIII peaks were 0.05 (% w/w). Forced degradation studies were performed and mass balance was established for acid, base, oxidative, photolytic, thermal and temperature and humidity degradation conditions. The method was validated as per international conference on harmonization of technical requirements for pharmaceuticals for human use (ICH) guidelines. The impurities (Impurity-VI to Impurity XI) were related to route of synthesis and the developed method was capable to quantify these impurities along with impurities (Impurity-I to Impurity-V) as per United States, European pharmacopeia.

Background: Breast cancer is a major public health problem globally. The ongoing epidemiological, socio-cultural and demographic transition by accentuating the associated risk factors has disproportionately increased the incidence of breast cancer cases and resulting mortality in developing countries like India. Early diagnosis with rapid initiation of treatment reduces breast cancer mortality. Therefore awareness of breast cancer risk and a willingness to undergo screening are essential. The objective of the present study was to assess the knowledge and practices relating to screening for breast cancer among women in Delhi. Methods: Data were obtained from 222 adult women using a pretested self-administered questionnaire. Results: Rates for knowledge of known risk factors of breast cancer were: family history of breast cancer, 59.5%; smoking, 57.7%; old age, 56.3%; lack of physical exercise, 51.9%; lack of breastfeeding, 48.2%; late menopause, 37.4%; and early menarche, 34.7%. Women who were aged < 30 and those who were unmarried registered significantly higher knowledge scores (p ≤ 0.01). Breast self-examination (BSE) was regularly practiced at-least once a month by 41.4% of the participants. Some 48% knew mammography has a role in the early detection of breast cancer. Since almost three-fourths of the participants believed BSE could help in early diagnosis of breast cancer, which is not supported by evidence, future studies should explore the consequences of promoting BSE at the potential expense of screening mammography. Conclusion: Our findings highlight the need for awareness generation among adult women regarding risk factors and methods for early detection of breast cancer.- انتشار مقاله: 17-06-1396
