- چکیده انگلیسی: Potentiometric titrations have been used to calculate the dissociation constants of Hippuric acid and its stability constants with Cu(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), and Pb(II) ions in ethanol-water mixed solvent system at different temperatures, and constant ionic strength of 0.1M solution sodium nitrate. The order of the stability constants of metal complexes at 298 K with respect to ligand was found to be Cu(II) > Pb(II) > Zn(II) > Ni(II). Effect of temperature on stability of hippuric acid complexes with Cu(II) and Pb(II) has been studied in order to calculate the Gibb`s free energy and enthalpy of the complex formation reaction, the results showed that coordination process is spontanous and exothermic. Effect of solvent ratio has been studied only for Cu(II) complex and the dissociation of hippuric acid at given added different ratios decreases on the following order 75% > 50%.

- چکیده انگلیسی: The present work aims to evaluate two native plants including, Hammada scoparia (H. scoparia) and Halocnemum Strobilaceum (H. Strobilaceum), which grow in Benghazi-Libya for soil phytoremediation purpose. Plants and soil samples were collected and analyzed for Cu, Zn, Fe and Cr concentrations at different sites in the north coastal region of Benghazi. Performance of Hammada scoparia and Halocnemum Strobilaceum was evaluated by calculating biological absorption coefficient (BAC), bioconcentration factor (BCF), and translocation factor (TF). Both plants were found to be a moderate extractor. The tendency of the plants toward phytoextraction process and phytostabiliztion process was studied. Both plants tend to phytoextraction process except Halocnemum Strobilaceum tends strongly to phytostabiliztion process in case of Cu and Fe.

- چکیده انگلیسی: The potential of Hammada scoparia (Hamm.) and Halocnemum Strobilaceum (Halo.) growing in Benghazi-Libya for soil phytoremediation purpose has been evaluated.
Hammada scoparia (Hamm.) and Halocnemum Strobilaceum (Halo.) and their roots soil samples were collected and analyzed for Cd, Ni and Pb concentrations in a salty area in the north coastal region of Benghazi, near Benghazi asphalt factory, Benghazi steel factory, Brega oil company sorage tanks, and north Benghazi power station.
The biological absorption coefficient (BAC), bioconcentration factor (BCF), and translocation factor (TF) of Hammada scoparia and Halocnemum Strobilaceum have been calculated. - چکیده انگلیسی: The concentrations of some heavy metals (Cu, Co, and Pb) were investigated in muscle, liver and gills of three fish species (Mullus surmuletus, Seriola dumerili, and Sparus aurata) collected from frozen fish markets in Benghazi city, Libya, during winter 2016, using flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The mean concentrations (μg/g) of the heavy metals in fish tissues ranged as follows: Cu (44.80 – 79.33), Co (198.66 – 238.26), Pb (56 – 192). The highest mean concentration, 238.26μg/g was recorded for Co in the muscle of Mullus surmuletus, on the other, the lowest mean concentration, 44.80 μg/g, was recorded for Cu in gills of Mullus surmuletus. The concentrations for Cu and Pb in all fish samples were over the Effect Range-Low (ERL) but were under the Effect Range-Median (ERM) in metal pollution index (MPI). The concentrations of (Cu, Co and Pb) were higher than the maximum permissible limits specified by some food regulatory bodies like WHO. The results indicate that heavy consumption of frozen fishes in Benghazi city markets may pose a health risk to the consumers.

- چکیده انگلیسی: The increased concentrations of heavy metals in soil pose a threat to human life through the food chain. Soil and plant samples from the coastal area of Benghazi city were collected and analyzed using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS) for their heavy metal contents. The metal content of Cu, Cr, Ni, Zn, and Pb has been determined in the soil in the vicinity of plant roots, plant roots, and leaves. Biological absorption coefficient (BAC), bioconcentration factor (BCF), and translocation factor (TF) have been calculated to evaluate the ability of Suaeda vera to extract the metals from soil. The results showed that Suaeda vera Forssk. Ex J.F. Gmel is more suitable for phytoextraction than the phytostabilisation. Phytoremediation as a green technology has many advantages over the other methods of heavy metals removal from soils.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Propylene oxide-ethylene oxide block polymer (PO-EO) is a surfactant with low cloud point. It has been used for separation of Cu2+, Fe3+, Mn2+, Cd2+ and Cr3+ ions in aqueous media. The effect of different factors on recovery percent, like pH, temperature, amount of chelating agent, and amount of surfactant have been studied. A very good separation of metal ions could be achieved at different pH values with good effeciency of separation under the optimum conditions. The analyses of metal ions were carried out using flame atomic absorption spectrometer with duterium lamp background correction and calibration curve method curve method.
