- چکیده انگلیسی: The aims of the present study were to evaluate luteal activity in Abadeh ecotype goat during summer and winter and also the effect of a single dose kisspeptin-10 injection on the secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) in female anestrous goats. In the first study, progesterone (P4) concentration in 10 goats in summer (n = 6) and winter (n = 4) were measured every other day. Moreover, in summer group, a male teaser goat was left in the herd on days of sampling for one hour. Goats with P4 concentration ≥1 ng mL-1, at least two consecutive measurements, were considered with luteal activity. In the second study, the anestrous phase was confirmed by P4 measurement 20 and 10 days before the kisspeptin injection in five female Abadeh ecotype goats (4 to 5 years old). The goats were given a single IV injection of saline (2 mL) as control group and the same goats (1 hr after the last blood sampling) were given kisspeptin (1 μg kg-1) as treatment group. The blood samples were collected at –60, –40, –20 and 0 min (before injection), and 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, 100, 120 and 140 min after the injection and LH concentration were measured. A single IV injection of 1 µg kg-1 of kisspeptin-10 did not stimulate the release of LH in female anestrous goats. In summer, in the presence of teaser goat, luteal activity was seen in all goats. In the absence of male goat in winter, some goats showed luteal activity and others showed anestrus.

- چکیده انگلیسی: The present research aims to examine the influence of response format on the reliability and validity of grammaticality judgment tests. To this end, the grammaticality judgment test developed by Gass (1994) was selected as the instrument which was manipulated in terms of the response format while the original items remained intact. Thus, in the first phase of the study, a multiple-choice GJ test was constructed to be compared with the traditional form, i.e., the dichotomous type. The two tests were administered to a group of 110 students. With regard to validity which was arrived at by means of internal correlations proposed by Alderson, Clapham and Wall (1995). In the second phase, GJ tests were developed in ordinal and likert scales to which 49 students responded. The analysis unveiled the effect of response format on reliability. Concerning validity, which was examined via a post-test questionnaire, response format was selected as the second reason behind inconsistency in responses from participants’ view.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Nowadays, functionally graded materials (FGM) are widely used in many industrial, aerospace and military fields. On the other hand, the interest in the use of shrink-fitted assemblies is increasing for designing composite tubes, high-pressure vessels, rectors and tanks. Although extensive researches exist on thick-walled cylindrical shells, not many researches have been done on shrink-fitted thick FGM cylinders. In this paper, an analytical formulation for shrink-fitted of axisymmetric thick-walled FGM cylinders based on the linear plane elasticity theory is presented. The stresses and displacement fields in thick cylindrical shells are calculated using the real, Repeated and complex roots of characteristic equation. The displacements and stresses resulted are depicted for a case study. The results show that the material composition variation had evident effects on shrink-fit pressure in the intersection area of two fitted tubes. The value of this pressure affects radial and hoop stress distribution in FG circular cylinders walls.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) is carried out using two different configurations for the exit channel of the ECAP die, i.e., relieved and choked, with angles of 0.2 °. It is found that using a die with relieved exit channel, the sample was extruded for 6 passes with no surface cracks and an average cell size of 727 nm and a fraction of high angle grain boundaries of 54 % were achieved. Measured values of yield strength (YS) and ultimate tensile strength (UTS) were reported to be 201.1 and 259.5, respectively. By using the die with choked exit channel, it was possible to deform the sample for up to 14 passes with no sign of surface cracking. A relatively finer cell structure around 530 nm was achieved and the fraction of HAGBs increased to 64 %. Relative increases in YS and UTS were as well observed indicating that re-strengthening has been activated in the material after saturation at the 4th pass. In addition, the mechanism of grain refinement seemed to change to progressive lattice rotation evidenced by formation of trapped single grains within the size range of less than 100 nm.

- چکیده انگلیسی: In this article various pipes used for transporting of gas are introduced and pros and cons of each one are elucidated. The pipes are categorized in three different subgroups including metallic, polymeric and metallic-wire reinforced polymeric pipes. Metallic-wire reinforced polymeric pipes are nominated as the best option for usage in high pressure pipelines transporting natural gas. As a result, some information about major manufacturers of this kind of polymeric pipes, raw material, production process and metallic-wire orientation are presented. Finally, from economical point of view, some calculations are done to estimate required amount of polymer and metallic-wire to manufacture such pipes. It is also possible to compare their manufacturing cost with usual metallic and polymeric pipes.

- چکیده انگلیسی: The main objective of the present work was to synthesis polyamide 6 through anionic polymerization of ε-caprolactam in an internal mixer. The reaction time and the rheological properties of samples during the polymerization were studied. The samples were characterized by Thermo Gravimetry Analysis (TGA), Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) and FT-IR spectrometer. The melt flow behavior and viscoelastic properties of the samples were studied by using a Rheometric Mechanical Spectrometer (RMS). The polymerization reaction was found to be very fast such that it completed within 6 minutes as could be detected by following the mixing torque which reached to a steady state after passing a maximum. These results suggest that there is a reaction time above which the viscoelastic behavior of the samples almost remained unchanged, while the viscosity and elasticity of the samples continue to decrease with polymerization reaction time as a result of thermochemical degradation.

- چکیده انگلیسی: In this work, ternary polymer blends based on polypropylene (PP)/ polyethylene terephthalate (PET) /poly(styrene-b (ethylene-co-butylene)-b-styrene) (SEBS) triblock copolymer and a reactive maleic anhydride grafted SEBS (SEBS-g-MAH) at various compositions were prepared by co-rotating twin screw extruder. The effects of PET, SEBS and SEBS-g-MAH compatibilizer on morphology of the blends were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The blends morphology was also estimated by some predicting methods, however, SEM results revealed some contrasts between results of predicting methods and the real morphology. Population of individual and core-shell particles as well as average diameter of the rubber-based cavities is extremely dependent on SEBS, SEBS-g-MA and PET content. Mechanical inspection tests showed that in comparison with the pure PP, addition of SEBS/SEBS-MA causes an increase in the impact strength of the system. Keeping other parameters constant, with increase in SEBS rubbery phase, the core-shell morphology was affected and the impact strength increased consequently. On the other hand, increase in PET content results in modulus increase and the impact strength decrease. Finally, the optimum processing conditions for compounding ternary PP/PET/SEBS blends were achieved.

- چکیده انگلیسی: BACKGROUND AND AIM: Due to their antimicrobial and dental plaque control activity, mouthwashes lead to an improvement in oral health. Although chemical mouthwashes have demonstrated the greatest antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects, their usage has been limited because of their numerous side effects. This study was conducted in vivo to determine the antibacterial and antifungal effects of Persica herbal mouthwash containing Salvadore persica, mint, and yarrow in comparison with a placebo. METHODS: In this experimental, single-blind study, 80 dentistry students, who were eager to participate in the study, were randomly allocated into two groups of forty. One group was given Persica while the other group received a placebo. They were asked to apply the mouthwash twice a day for four weeks. The participants were unaware of the mouthwash type. Saliva sampling was conducted in all cases before and after mouthwash application and the samples were dispatched to a laboratory for microbial culture (Sabouraud and Clark-Kenner media culture). After two weeks, the washout times in groups were swapped with each other and the sampling was conducted just like before. Finally, the data were analyzed using independent and paired t-test. P values of less than 0.05 were considered significant. RESULTS: The mean age of participants was 23.20 ± 4.14. Persica mouthwash significantly decreased the count of Candida albicans (1.43 ± 0.15 to 0.8 ± 0.35) (P < 0.001) and Enterococcus faecalis (0.93 ± 1.76 to 0.71 ± 2.10) (P = 0.008). CONCLUSION: The statistical tests revealed that applying Persica mouthwash would result in a significant decrease in the Candida albicans and Enterococcus faecalis count. Regarding the significant and desirable effect of Persica on Candida albicans and Enterococcus faecalis, and its herbal origin, its application could be suggested to reduce oral microbes and infections from fungi and enterococci.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate and predict ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in the two groups of patients who received either proton pump inhibitors (Pantoprazole) or histamine H2 antagonist (Ranitidine). Methods: Patients in ICU received Pantoprazole or Ranitidine as stress-related mucosal injury and GI bleeding prophylaxis. The incidence rate of VAP and GI bleeding was estimated in each group during ICU stay. Chi-Square and Multivariate Logistic Regression Test were used for data analysis. P.value less than 0.05 was considered significant. Data analysis was performed through SPSS version 19.0. Results: The incidence rate of VAP in the Ranitidine and Pantoprazole groups was 44.7% and 37.3% respectively (p=0.3). According to the multivariable logistic regression analysis, length of mechanical ventilation ≥ 4 days was a predictive factor for VAP only in the Pantoprazole group (OR: 1.8, 95% CI: 1.56-1.90, p=0.006). No relationship between GI bleeding incidence and stress ulcer prophylaxis was found (p=0.4). Kaplan-Meier curve showed no significant difference between the two groups of Ranitidine and Pantoprazole (p=0.4) in survival time according to the length of ICU stay. Conclusion: According to the results, there was no difference between the two groups in terms of VAP, GI bleeding and stress ulcer. Due to the lower cost of Ranitidine, it may be a more appropriate choice for GI bleeding prophylaxis in ICU patients.
