- چکیده انگلیسی: Introduction:
Tonsillectomy is the one of the most common types of surgery in children, and is often accompanied by post-operative pain and discomfort. Methods of pain control such as use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), narcotics, and local anesthetics have been used, but each have their own particular side effects. In this study we investigated the effect of ketamine on post-operative sedation and pain relief.
Materials and Methods:
A total of 50 children aged between 5 and 12 years who were candidates for tonsillectomy were divided into two groups. The study group received ketamine-midazolam (ketamine 1 mg/kg, midazolam 0.1 mg/kg) and the control group received midazolam (0.1 mg/kg) in the pre-operative period. The same methods of anesthesia induction and maintenance were used in all patients. Pain score was assessed using the Wong-Baker Faces Pain Rating scale and sedation was evaluated using the Riker Sedation-Agitation scale at the time of extubation as well as 5, 10, 15, and 30 minutes and 1, 2, and 6 hours after surgery.
Results:
The two groups were similar in terms of age, weight, gender and duration of surgery. Pain after 15 and 30 minutes and agitation after 10 and 15 minutes following extubation were lower in the study group (ketamine-midazolam). Mean consumption and time of first request for analgesia after surgery as well as incidence of post-operative vomiting were similar in the two groups.
Conclusion:
Adding ketamine to midazolam in pre-operative of tonsillectomy reduces agitation and post-operative pain in the first 30 minutes after surgery.- انتشار مقاله: 06-11-1393

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Information on the genetic structure of marine species is essential for stock improvement programs. In order
to analyses the genetic diversity of the Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricte) by the microsatellite genetic
method, 64 samples were caught from the beaches located in Kish and Qeshm islands. Polymerase chain
reactions (PCR) of genomic DNA extracted from the samples were carried out using 5 pairs of microsatellite
primers. The results of this study indicated that all 5 pairs of primers were polymorphic. Average numbers
of real allele and effective allele were 4.90 and 2.99, respectively. Average rate of observed heterozygosity
was 0.570 and that for expected heterozygosity was 0.616. Study of the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium was
shown the entire locus had not equilibrium except Cm3 and Ei8 locus in Kish area. Fst (0.166) and Rst (0.634)
calculated by the Analysis of Molecular Variance (AMOVA) test illustrated that there are separate populations
of Hawksbill turtle in this part of the Persian Gulf (Kish and Qeshm islands). It seems that Kish’s
turtles live under better conditions in contrast to their Qeshm counterparts. Diminution of genetic variation
within examined population decreases its adaptation to environmental alterations. We identified two different
E. imbricte populations from north of the Persian Gulf.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Soils around mining sites play a significant role in the transport and control of heavy metals in the environment. Therefore, understanding the adsorption properties of soil is essential in solving pollution problems. The objective of this paper was to study Zn(II) adsorption onto Sarcheshmeh copper mine soils. The adsorption isotherms of Zn(II) were studied. The Langmuir isotherm indicated an excellent fit for the experimental data in comparison with other isotherms. The capacity of Zn(II) adsorption was assessed by distribution coefficient for samples (SA and SE), such that, the SA sample showed high Kd values. Also, the amounts of Zn(II) adsorbed onto the soil decreased with increase in the initial concentration. The results of this study show that soils around mine can play an effective role in decreasing Zn(II) contamination.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background and aims: One of the major problems in hospitals is resistant pathogenic bacteria to antimicrobial substances. The problem of increased costs of treatment failure and mortality rates is increasing. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of gold nanoparticles has been on Salmonella typhimurium.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed and Salmonella typhimurium bacteria were isolated from poultry.Gold nanoparticles for business were purchased. Minimum inhibitory concentrations of gold nanoparticles in different concentrations by dilution in the wells were determined on bacteria. Susceptibility to several antibiotics was evaluated by Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method.
Results: The result of gold nanoparticles showed the highest MIC (the minimum inhibitory concentration) was 100 ppm concentration that 6 strains of them were inhibited by this concentration. The lowest MIC was 50 ppm concentration that 1 strain of Salmonella was inhibited. The highest and lowest MBC value of extractwas 200 and 100 ppm, respectively.
Conclusions: The results showed that gold nanoparticles have good inhibitory effect on all studied bacteria.- انتشار مقاله: 22-09-1395
