- چکیده انگلیسی: This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of subcutaneous administration of synthetic eugenol (EG) for disbudding of goat kids, as a new chemical method. Thirty apparently healthy Raieni (Cashmere) goat kids (five-day-old) were divided randomly into six groups (n = 5). In the pathology (P) groups (P3, P8 and P60 according to the sample collection day after injection) an amount of 0.10 mL of EG was subcutaneously administrated in both horn buds. In the disbudding 1 and 2 (DB1, DB2) groups, 0.10 mL of EG, and in the control (C) group 0.10 mL normal saline was subcutaneously injected in the right horn buds, respectively. Eugenol injection in DB2 group was done in twelve-day-old goat kids. The left horn buds of DB1, DB2 and C groups were considered as control of horn outgrowing. The horn buds, kidneys, liver, lung, brain and heart, tissue specimens were collected from P3 and P8 groups, and bud skin samples were collected from P60 group. The results showed that the EG was able to stop the horn growth in the first week of goat life. There was no significant difference between left and right horn size in the C group. Histopathological study revealed complete necrosis of bud tissue in dermal and epidermal layers, in P3 animals. Healing and re-epithelialization were seen in the samples taken from P8 group. Subcutaneous injection of the synthetic EG can be considered as a new method for goat kids disbudding.

- چکیده انگلیسی: This study was performed to evaluate the efficacy of injection of essential oil of Eugenia caryophyllata in the kid horn buds, as a new chemical technique for disbudding. Five-day-old healthy goat kids from both sexes (n = 16) were divided randomly into 4 equal groups. In groups 1, 2 and 3, 0.2 mL of clove essence and in group 4 (control) 0.2 mL of normal saline was injected into the left horn bud of goat kids. Right horn bud in all kids was considered to ensure that they are horned. During the study, the rate of horn growth were evaluated in determined time intervals between groups 1 and 4. Tissue samples were taken from right and left horn bud in groups 2 and 3, at five and ten days after clove essence injection, for microscopic study. The results of the study showed that the clove essence stopped horn growth, whereas there was no significant difference in horn growth rate between left and right horns after injection of normal saline, in group 4. Histopathological study showed that injection of clove essence caused complete necrosis of epidermis and underlying dermis with collagenolysis in horn bud tissues, 5 days after injection and then progress in healing process was observed after 10 days. According to the results of this study, it can be concluded that the injection of clove essence is an effective method to stop horn growth without any undesirable effects on clinical parameters in goat kids.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Lanthanum nickelate with the chemical formula of La2NiO4+δ has attracted research interests during recent years, due to its hA high oxygen ion diffusivity for application as cathode material in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). In this research, lanthanum nickelate with Ruddlesden–Popper (RP) crystal structure was synthesized via the co-precipitation method. The effects of OH-/NO3- molar ratio, La3+/Ni2+ molar ratio, co-precipitation temperature, and calcination temperature on the phase composition, thermal behavior, morphology, and electrochemical properties of the synthesized samples were investigated. Analysis of the X-ray diffractometry (XRD) patterns revealed that the optimum OH-/NO3- and La3+/Ni2+ molar ratios in the co-precipitation stage are 1.25 and 1.7, respectively. The formation of RP lanthanum nickelate is promoted by calcination of the co-precipitated powder at 1000 °C, while the calcination at lower temperatures may lead to the formation of perovskite (P) lanthanum nickelate. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies showed that the mean particle size decreases from 428 to 332 nm by increasing the OH-/NO3- molar ratio from 1 to 1.5 while it increases from 67 to 183 nm by increasing the calcination temperature from 900 to 1000 °C. Simultaneous differential thermal analysis (DTA/TG) showed that the single RP lanthanum nickelate phase starts to form at 920 °C and fully formed at 960 °C. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy data indicated that the cell with the electrode sintered at 1050 °C has the lowest polarization resistance. The polarization resistance reached 1 Ω cm2 at the testing temperature of 800 °C, for the electrode sintered at 1050 °C. Impedance curves of the electrode were fitted and simulated with two semicircles at high and low frequencies. The activation energy of 1.14 eV was calculated for the electrode polarization resistance of the lanthanum nickelate electrode.

- چکیده انگلیسی: BACKGROUND AND AIM: The present study was performed in order to assess the effect of gingival thickness on amount of gingival augmentation with and without preserving periosteum.METHODS: The study was conducted on 8 ecotype dogs aged 1-5 years. At the beginning, clinical probing depth and keratinized and attached gingiva width were measured. Totally, 64 sites were operated in this study. Periosteal fenestration and denuded beds were randomly created on opposite sides of upper and lower jaws (4 sites each side). The thickness of gingiva was measured in mucogingival junction after preparation of the beds. The clinical parameters were evaluated 2 months after the surgery. The data were analyzed by Mann-Whitney U, Wilcoxon, and Pearson correlation tests.RESULTS: The results showed the average increased width of keratinized and attached gingiva was 1.8 mm and 2 mm in periosteal fenestration sites and 1.9 mm and 2.3 mm in denudation sites, respectively at 2 months post-surgery. The difference between the width of keratinized gingiva and attached gingiva before and 2 months after operation was significant in both groups (P < 0.001). However, no significant difference was shown between the two groups in terms of attached and keratinized gingival width (P = 0.100 and P = 0.720, respectively). There was no correlation between the thickness of gingiva and the amount of increased width of keratinized and attached gingiva.CONCLUSION: A gingival thickness of 0.8 to 2 mm does not affect the increment of the attached and keratinized gingival width with and without preserving periosteum.

- چکیده: زمینه مطالعه: پارگی های سرپستانک از ضایعات ناگوار برای بقای گاو در گله میباشد. در پارگیهای وسیع سرپستانک، زخم بایستی به روش التیام ثانویه درمان گردد. اما پدیده انقباض زخم در طی التیام میتواند باعث تغییر ساختار سرپستانک و ایجاد مشکل در زمان شیردوشی و ازبین بردن زیبایی دام گردد. هدف: هدف از این مطالعه ارزیابی انتقال پیوند آزاد پوستی تمام ضخامت در پارگیهای گسترده سرپستانک میباشد. روش کار: در این مطالعه از 4 راس گاو نژاد مخلوط هلشتاین غیر آبستن سالم با سرپستانکهای طبیعی استفاده گردید. تحت بی حسی موضعی، زخم تمام ضخامت چهارگوش Cm(2×2) بر روی سطح جانبی قسمت بالایی سرپستانکهای قدامی سمت راست و چپ ایجاد شد و بطور همزمان قطعه پوست پیوندی تمام ضخامت چهارگوش Cm(5/1×5/1) از سطح داخلی لاله گوش سمت چپ جدا نموده و بعد از شبکهای نمودن به زخمهای سرپستانک سمت چپ پیوند گردید.ارزیابی بالینی التیام زخم در طی 3 هفته انجام شد و در خاتمه نمونه هیستوپاتولوژیک (با رنگ آمیزی )H&E از زخمهای سرپستانک سمت چپ و راست تهیه گردید. نتایج: نتایج این مطالعه نشان داد که در زخمهای بدون پیوند، انقباض شدید زخم سبب بدشکلی در ساختار طبیعی سرپستانکها گردید. اما در زخمهای دارای پیوند، عمل پیوند در تمام زخمهای پیوندی موفق بوده و تمامی سرپستانکها از لحاظ ساختار ظاهری و عملکرد در حد مطلوب بودهاند. نتیجه گیری نهایی: بر اساس نتایج این مطالعه چنین میتوان نتیجهگیری نمود که استفاده از پیوندهای پوستی تمام ضخامت شبکهای میتواند روش انتخابی مناسبی جهت التیام زخمهای وسیع سرپستانک در گاو باشد.
- چکیده انگلیسی: BACKGROUND: Teat lacerations are serious injuries that
endanger the survival of a cow within the herd. In excessive
lacerations, the wound should be left to heal by second intention
healing process. However, tissue contraction during healing can
change the alignment of the teat, creating problems for machine
milking. OBJECTIVES: The purpose of the present study was to
evaluate the transplantation of the full-thickness free skin graft
in excessive teat lacerations. METHODS: Four healthy, nonpregnant,
mixed Holstein-Friesian dairy cows with normal teats
were used in the study. Under local anesthesia, a rectangular full
thickness excision (2 Cm×2 Cm) was made on the lateral surface
of the proximal part of the right and left fore teats of each cow,
and simultaneously a rectangular full-thickness free skin graft
(1.5 Cm×1.5 Cm) was harvested from the inner surface of the left
pinna. The graft was then meshed and transplanted to the left teat
defect. During a three-week study, the wound healing was
evaluated clinically and at the end of the study, histopathologic
samples (H &E staining) were taken from both wounds.
RESULTS: The results of this study demonstrated that in nongrafted
wounds, severe wound contraction caused a deformity in
normal anatomical structure of the teats. However, in grafted
wounds successful graft take was recorded in all wounds, and the
teats restored their functional and anatomical structure with
satisfactory cosmetic appearance. CONCLUSIONS:According to
the result of present study, it can be concluded that using fullthickness
free mesh skin graft can be considered a suitable

- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective- This study was performed to investigate the analgesic effects of lidocaine and lidocaine/tramadol combination in epidural anaesthesia in dromedary camels. Design- Experimental Study Animals- Eight healthy immature dromedary camels Methods - The camels were randomly designed in 2 equal groups. In group L: lidocaine 2% (0.22 mg/kg) and in group LT: a combination of lidocaine 2% (0.22 mg/kg) and tramadol (1 mg/kg) were injected into the first inter-coccygeal (Co1–Co2) epidural space. Onset time and duration of caudal analgesia, sedation and ataxia levels were recorded after drug administration. Results- Epidural lidocaine and co-administration of lidocaine and tramadol produced complete analgesia in the tail, anus and perineum. There were no significant differences in onset and duration of caudal analgesia parameters between groups L and LT (p>0.05). Epidural administration of the lidocaine– tramadol combination resulted in mild to moderate sedation, whilst the animals that received epidural lidocaine alone were alert and nervous during the study. Ataxia was observed in all test subjects and was slightly more severe in camels that received the lidocaine–tramadol mixture. Conclusion and Clinical Relevance- It was concluded that epidural administration of lidocaine plus tramadol resulted in sedation and unnoticeable longer caudal analgesia in standing conscious dromedary camels compared with the effect of administering lidocaine alone.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective- To study a method of chemical sterilization and its efficacy in adult male dogs. Design- Experimental study. Animals- Ten healthy adult mixed-breed dogs Procedures- Eugenia caryophyllata (EC) essential oil was injected into the dorsal cranial portion of each testicle of five dogs (treatment group). The same volume of normal saline was injected in the same site of testicles in the other five dogs (control group). Results-There were no significant adverse effects and no change in the dog behavior during the study. Histopathological findings showed total necrosis of testicular tissue with fibrosis and hyalinization in seminiferous tubules and interstitial spaces. Infiltration of leucocytes was also observed. The serum concentration of testosterone was decreased significantly in treatment group. There was also no significant change in the serum concentrations of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (CRE), total protein (TP) and cortisol level. Conclusion and Clinical Relevance- Single intratesticular injection of an appropriate dose of EC can result in sterilization, which is preferable to surgical castration in dog.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective- This study was performed to investigate the analgesic effects of lidocaine, xylazine and lidocaine/xylazine combination in eye regional anesthesia. Design- Experimental Study. Animals- Twenty adult goats were randomly designed in 4 groups. Procedures- In group L: 10 ml mixture of lidocaine 2% (5 mg/kg BW) and normal saline, In group LX: 10 ml mixture of lidocaine 2% (5 mg/kg BW), xylazine 2% (0.05 mg/kg BW) and normal saline, In group X: 10 ml mixture of xylazine 2% (0.05 mg/kg BW) and normal saline and In group C: 10 ml of normal saline were injected into the retrobulbar space of left eyes via four point method. Onset and duration of eyelids analgesia and glob analgesia/akinesia were compared between the groups. The images were studied serially and compared anatomically with two dissected head and intact goat skulls. Results- The results of this study demonstrated that eye regional anesthesia have not been observed in group C. In group X, sedative effect of xylazine without complete loss of eyelids and glob anaesthesia was observed. There was no significant difference in onset of eyelids and glob anaesthesia between groups L and LX (p>0.05). Duration of eye regional anesthesia in group LX was significantly more than group L (p<0.05). The animals in groups X and LX were sedated during the study but in group L the animals were alert and nervous. Conclusion and Clinical Relevance- According to results of present study, addition of xylazine to lidocaine for retrobulbar block causes a sedative effect and increased duration of eye regional anesthesia.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Objectives- to provide a reference anatomy of the bronchial tree of the Jebeer Gazelle by using computed tomographic modality. Design- Experimental study. Animals- Three female Jebeer Gazelle Procedures- Spiral CT images were taken from the thoracic region perpendicular to long axis of the body. CT windows were adjusted as necessary to have optimized images of pulmonary organ. The images were studied serially and compared anatomically with two dissected goat and sheep. Results- Trachea, lobar and some segmental bronchi were identified and labeled according to thoracic vertebrae as landmarks Conclusions and clinical relevance- The results of this study can help better understanding of the lung and bronchial tree in a live animal. - چکیده انگلیسی: Objective- To consider the possibility of ultrasonography evaluation of the plantar tendons and ligaments and prepare a standard reference for it. Design- Descriptive study Animals- 7 female healthy Caspian miniature horses'-age 7year- no clinical sign of lameness and prior to presentation. Procedure- The ultrasonography of the right and the left metatarsal region was performedusing a Pie Medical 100 Falco Vet and an 8MHZ linear transducer. The area forultrasonography was divided to 9 levels (1a-1b-2a-2b-3a-3b-4a-4b-5a), each 3 cm longafterwards. Results- All the structures started to appear with an acceptable contrast and visibility at the 2alevel. SDFT and DDFT were well observed from the level 2a however, no definite borderswere recognizable as ICL (except one case) and echogenicity of DDFT from the 2b level washyperechoic to isoechoic comparing SDFT and SL from this level observed the branching area was hyperechoic in compare with DDFT & SDFT, however MSL & LSL were hypoechoiccomparing SDFT and DDFT. There aren't any difference echogenicity between right and left hind limb. Conclusion and Clinical Relevance- Investigations have proved that there's no differencebetween the echogenicity of each ligament and tendon in different levels in the left and rightlimbs which was confirmed in the current inspection as wellThe conclusions of the current study on the Caspian horse were showen too that highlycompatible with the previous vestigations in horses on echogenicity and shape of the plantartendons and ligaments. Generally it is assumed that transverse images provide a better image oftendons and ligaments and any injury in any part of the above structures can be diagnosedeasily, however some probable injuries around the tendon may be left unseen in longitudinalimages.
