- چکیده انگلیسی: The CFD simulation has been undertaken concerning natural convection heat transfer of a nanofluid in vertical square enclosure, whose dimension, width height length (mm), is 40 40 90, respectively. The nanofluid used in the present study is -water with various volumetric fractions of the alumina nanoparticles ranging from 0-3%. The Rayleigh number is . Fluent v6.3 is used to simulate nanofluid considering it as a single phase. The effect of Brownian motion on the heat transfer is examined. A comparison between the two studies of with and without the Brownian motion, shows that when the Brownian motion is considered, the solid volume fraction of nanoparticles has dissimilar effects on the heat transfer. The numerical results show a decrease in heat transfer with increase in particle volume fraction considering Brownian motion effects. Moreover, computed result demonstrates an increase of Nusselt number with Rayleigh number as depicted by experimental results.

- چکیده انگلیسی: In this paper, an experimental study has been conducted on the rheological behavior of Water (80%) and Ethylene-glycol (20%) in presence of Al2O3-MWCNTs hybrid nanomaterials. For this purpose, nanofluid samples were prepared by suspending the nanomaterials in a mixture of water and EG with solid volume fractions of 0.0625%, 0.125%, 0.25% and 0.5% Viscosity measurements were performed at various shear rates and in the temperatures range of 25 to 50⁰C. Experimental data showed that all hybrid nanofluid samples had Newtonian behavior. also Results showed that nanofluid viscosity decreased with increasing temperature and augmented with increasing the volume fraction. Eventually, a new accurate correlation was developed to assist the calculation of the viscosity of the Al2O3-MWCNTs/water-EG at different temperatures and volume fractions

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Normal Body Mass Index (BMI) = 18.5-24.9 kg/m2 and high Body Fat (BF), have been defined as Normal Weigh Obesity (NWO), which can increase the risk of Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) and cardiovascular diseases. The present study aimed to determine the association between NWO and MetS indicators, Insulin Resistance (IR), and inflammatory and oxidative stress indices in NW obese compared to normal weight women referring to Imam Reza medical center, Shiraz, Iran.
Methods: In this case-control study, 41 healthy NW obese Iranian women were recruited and compared to 45 healthy non-obese control subjects. Anthropometric features, body composition, blood pressure, inflammation and oxidative stress indices, fasting insulin, lipid profile, and blood sugar were measured. IR was also assessed by means of special formulas.
Results: The results showed a significant difference between the NWO and the control group regarding anthropometric measurements and body composition, including waist (p=0.008) and hip (p<0.001) circumferences, BF (p<0.001), skeletal muscle (p=0.03), protein(p=0.04), body cell mass(p=0.02), bone mass content(p=0.04), and arm circumference(p<0.001). All subjects had normal systolic and diastolic blood pressures. However, the NWO group showed significantly higher serum concentrations of triglycerides (p=0.02), total cholesterol(p=0.02), and C-reactive protein (p<0.001). On the other hand, the results of McAuley test indicated significantly lower insulin sensitivity in the NWO group (p=0.03). Besides, serum MDA concentration did not have a marked differences in both study groups.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background:Serum vitamin D (VIT D) concentration has been inversely associated with the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS), but the relationship has remained unclear. We evaluated the prevalence of VIT D deficiency, and its association with MS, and its components in the adult population in a sunny tropical region (Lamerd: a city in the south of Iran)Patients and Methods: Totally, 210 patients referring to different medical centers across the Lamerd city participated in this cross-sectional study through January and February of 2016. To select medical service center, we used a one-stage cluster sampling method. Anthropometric indices and dietary intake were measured using modified food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) and blood samples collected. Data were analyzed using SPPS version 16, Pearson’s correlation was used to investigate the bivariate relationships between the variables, and unpaired t-test was used to determine the differences between genders for all variables. A P-value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results:Overall, 62 menand 144 womenwith a mean age of 35.84± 10.84 years old completed this study; the prevalence of VIT D deficiency among the participants equaled 64.1% (women=66.7% and men=58.1%). A significant positive relationship between sun exposure time on the serum VIT (p= <0.0015), and a negative relationship between the serum VIT D on triglyceride (p= 0.035), TC (p= 0.025, age (p= 0.001), and fasting blood sugar (p= <0.001) were found. Conclusions: This study showed that lower VIT D concentrations were associated with increased MS risk factors.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Job satisfaction is an emotional and positive feeling which results from job assessment or experiences. It is always considered as a problem in some organizations. Despite the important role of nutrition therapy in patients care, dietitians’ job satisfaction is less taken into account. The aim of the present study was to determine the amount of job satisfaction among dietitians in Fars province, Iran. Methods: In this study, job satisfaction of 95 dietitians was evaluated through demographic and job satisfaction questionnaires. They were sent by e-mail or face-to-face referral for participants. Job satisfaction level was classified into 6 different categories including very satisfied, fairly satisfied, slightly satisfied, slightly dissatisfied, fairly dissatisfied and very dissatisfied. The data were analyzed by SPSS software using independent sample t-test, oneway ANOVA and Pearson correlation test. Statistical differences were considered significant at P<0.05.Results: The results showed that 72.6% of the participants were satisfied with their job condition but 27.4% were dissatisfied. The mean score of job satisfaction of dietitians was 57%±10.54 (from the maximum score of 100), indicating the participants ’slight satisfaction. Moreover, the highest and lowest scores were related to the nature of work and salary, respectively. Conclusion: Since the level of job satisfaction affects other institutional variables such as efficiency, motivation, performance, absenteeism or burning out, it is suggested that authorities of Health Ministry provide a condition in which job satisfaction is increased by applying appropriate techniques.

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Protein-energy malnutrition (PEM) is a common complication in pediatric patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Components incorporated in the regulation of appetite and body composition appear to be of the focus in renal insufficiency and may influence the CKD-associated PEM. The purpose of this study was to investigate plasma levels of appetite-regulating hormones and their correlation with the body composition variables in a pediatric in predialysis stage of CKD.Methods: Thirty children with CKD in predialysis stage were selected and compared with 30 healthy sex- and age-matched controls. Blood samples were collected in fasting. Serum total ghrelin, leptin, and obestatin levels were measured using enzyme immunometric assay methods. Anthropometric parameters measurement and body composition analysis were done using the bioelectric impedance analysis (BIA) method. Results: Patients showed insignificant elevated total ghrelin (105.40±30.83 ng/l), leptin (5.32±1.17 ng/ml) and obestatin (5.07±1.09 ng/ml) levels in comparison with healthy participants. By using BIA, patients had significantly different Dry Lean Weight (P=0.048), Extra Cellular Water (P=0.045), Body Cell Mass (BCM) (P=0.021), Basal Metabolic Rate (P=0.033) and Body Mass Index (P=0.029) compared with controls. Furthermore, the total body water was slightly and the ECW was significantly higher in CKD participants. There were significant negative correlation between obestatin and BCM (r=-0.40, P=0.03) and fat free mass index (FFMI) (r=-0.40, P=0.029) in patients. Conclusion: It seems that our results are insufficient to clarify the role of appetite-regulating hormones in PEM in CKD patients. It is apparent that there are still many unknown parameters related to both appetite regulating and CKD-associated PEM.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Pomegranate seed oil and its main constituent, punicic acid, have been shown to decrease plasma glucose and have antioxidant activity. The objective of the present study was to examine the effects of pomegranate seed oil on rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Method: Six groups (n=8 each) of male Sprague-Dawley rats, comprising a control, a diabetic (induced by Streptozocin and Nicotinamide) receiving water as vehicle, a diabetic receiving pomegranate seed oil (200 mg/kg/day), a diabetic receiving pomegranate seed oil (600 mg/kg/day), a diabetic receiving soybean oil (200 mg/kg/day), and a diabetic receiving soybean oil (600 mg/kg/day), were used. After 28 days of receiving vehicle or oils, blood glucose, serum levels of insulin, malondialdehyde, glutathione peroxidase, and lipid profile were determined. Results: The diabetic rats had significantly higher levels of blood glucose, serum triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, total cholesterol, and malondialdehyde and lower levels of serum insulin and glutathione peroxidase. Rats treated with pomegranate seed oil had significantly higher levels of serum insulin and glutathione peroxidase activity, and there were no statistically significant differences in terms of blood glucose between them and the diabetic control group. Conclusion: The findings of the present study suggest that pomegranate seed oil improved insulin secretion without changing fasting blood glucose.

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Chronic low-grade systemic inflammation presented in Type 2 diabetes mellitus plays a major role in disease progression as well as development of micro- and macro-vascular complications of diabetes. Therefore, reducing inflammation can be beneficial in prevention of diabetes complications.
Objectives: To investigate the association between insulin resistance and inflammatory markers, and assessing the effects of oral Calcitriol on inflammatory cytokines in type 2 diabetic patients.
Methods: In this double-blind randomized placebo-controlled trial, 70 participants with type-2 diabetes were randomly divided to two groups. One group received two capsules of Calcitriol (0.25 μg 1,25-dihydroxy cholecalciferol per each capsule) per day. The second group received placebo tablets. At the beginning of the study, we assessed insulin resistance and its relation to inflammatory profile. Serum high sensitive Creactive protein (hs CRP), interleukin-6 and interleukin-18 were also measured at the beginning and the end of the 12-week supplementation trial.
Results: Mean calcium, phosphorus and vitamin D concentrations in the study participants were 8.98 ± 0.79 mg/dl, 3.86 ± 0.50 mg/dl and 40.91 ± 30.9 ng/ml, respectively. IL-18 and hsCRP had significant positive associations with insulin resistance markers and negative associations with insulin sensitivity markers. At the end of the 12-week supplementation trial, no significant difference was seen in serum levels of hsCRP, IL-6 and IL-18 between the two groups, while these values were adjusted for baseline values.
Conclusion: Inflammation was associated with insulin resistance in diabetic patients. No anti-inflammatory effect of Calcitriol in terms of decreasing hsCRP, IL-6 and IL-18 detected.- انتشار مقاله: 15-05-1395
