- چکیده انگلیسی: Introduction: One of the enzymes that is produced by Gram negative bacteria is Extended spectrum-β-lactamases (ESBLs) which was first described in the 1980s. This study aims at identifying three common genes (blaTEM, blaSHV and blaCTX-M) in Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from patients in Arak, Iran. Methods: A total number of 112 isolates were selected during 2012-2013. To identify phenotypic specifications, Combination Disk Method based on CLSI guidelines. The ESBL’s genotype was analyzed by multiplex PCR and DNA sequencing. Results: Among 10 examined antibiotics, the most resistant and susceptible antibiotics were ampicillin and imipenem, respectively. The phenotypic determination of ESBL showed that 46.42% of isolates produced ESBL. The molecular survey of genes showed that 35.89% had CTX-M, 5.12% had both CTX-M and TEM and 2.56% had TEM, SHV, CTX-M. Conclusion: According to the findings, the high prevalence (73.07%) of ESBL producing K. pneumoniae was observed with a new pattern of blaCTX-M distribution differed from other countries.

- چکیده: زمینه مطالعه: تب Q یک بیماری مشترک بین انسان و دام است که عامل آن، یک گونه از باکتری بنام Coxiella burnetii است که سراسر جهان در حال توزیع میباشد . در گاو، عفونت Coxiella burnetii معمولاً بدون علامت است اما همچنین میتواند با اختلالات تولید مثلی در ارتباط باشد. اپیدمیولوژی تب Q در ایران نا مشخص است اما برخی از منابع از اندمیک بودن ان در ایران خبر میدهند .هدف: هدف از این مطالعه به تشخیص مولکولی Coxiella burnetii، در مزارع گاو شیری با استفاده از واکنش زنجیره ای پلی مراز آشیانه ای در استان قم در سال 1390 می باشد.روش کار: از ژانویه تا فوریه 2011 (زمستان) و جولای تا سپتامبر 2011 (تابستان) در مجموع از 100 نمونه بالک شیر گاو از پنج منطقه به یک تعداد جمع آوری شدند .نتایج: در این پژوهش، 14(%14 از 100) شیر بالک مثبت بوده اند. نتیجه گیری نهایی:این نتایج فرضیه شیوع بالا و الگوی بومی تب Q در ایران را تایید مینماید.
- چکیده انگلیسی: BACKGROUND: Q fever is a zoonotic disease caused by
Coxiella burnetii, a species of bacteria that is distributed
worldwide. In cattle, Coxiella burnetii infections are generally
asymptomatic but can also be associated with reproductive
disorders. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to achieve
molecular detection of Coxiella burnetii in dairy bovine milk
farms using Nested PCR in Qom province, Iran. METHODS:
From January to February 2011 (winter) and July to September
2011(summer) a total of 100 bovine bulk milk samples were
equally collected from five areas of Qom. The nested PCR assay
used to screen for C. burnetii was designed from the nucleotide
sequence of the com1 gene encodin a 27-kD outer membrane
protein (OMP). RESULTS: In this study, 14% (14 of 100) of bulk
milk were positive. CONCLUSIONS: These results support the
hypothesis of high prevalence and endemic pattern of Q fever in

The prevalence of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae, especially Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC), has been recently reported worldwide. Therefore, there is an indispensable need for precise and rapid detection of these carbapenemases.
Objectives:
This study aimed to propose an accurate and rapid method for detecting K. pneumoniae carbapenemase genes from clinical samples, using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and to evaluate the expression of these genes in the presence of β-lactam antibiotic by real-time PCR assay.
Methods:
One hundred and eighty-one K. pneumoniae strains were collected from patients presenting to Firoozgar Hospital of Tehran, Iran. The strains were tested using the disk diffusion method, the modified Hodge test (MHT), and E-test minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). Next, reverse transcription-PCR method was applied for the identification of bla OXA-23 and bla OXA-48 genes. Finally, expression of genes was measured by real-time PCR assay in the presence and absence of β-lactam antibiotic.
Results:
Phenotypic testing also showed a high level of antibiotic resistance, while the genotypic methods indicated the presence and expression of carbapenemase genes.
Conclusions:
The findings suggest revisions in the current antibiotic therapy protocols, considering the high expression level of resistant carbapenemases to K. pneumoniae strains.- انتشار مقاله: 22-03-1398

Methods:
In this study, 100 P. aeruginosa were isolated with bacteriological and biochemical methods and pslA gene detection with PCR in all of the P. aeruginosa isolated from patients Then biofilm formation checked with microtiter plate method and it showed with SEM. Finally, expression of main attachment gene pslA in 6 strains could make moderate and strong biofilm were investigated by real-time PCR assay.
Results:
In this study, 100 P. aeruginosa were isolated that these strains showed High rates of MDR. The presence pslA gene in all of the pseudomonas isolated from patients was proven. Microtiter plate method showed 24 (24%) strains could make biofilm Among 100 strains that showed with SEM. The pslA expression in strains which making moderate and strong biofilms are more than other strains
Conclusions:

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: The use of waterpipe tobacco smoking (WTS) is on the rise throughout the world, especially
among young people and even athletes. There is a belief among consumers that exercise prevents the harmful
effects of hookah smoke on the body. We examined this belief by evaluation of lung injury following to
concurrent WTS and swimming endurance training in male Wistar rats.
Methods: Animals were randomly divided to sedentary control (CTL) group, exercise training group
(Ex group), sedentary WTS (S) group, and exercise plus WTS (S + Ex) group.
Findings: 8 weeks of WTS was associated with significant increase in serum level of cotinine, lung damage,
reduction in alveolar number AN/SA (mm2) and increase in malondialdehyde (MDA) level of lung tissue.
Combination of exercise with WTS significantly decreased these negative effects; however, it could not fully
protect the lung from smoking damage. Waterpipe smoking (WPS) also significantly increased the proinflammatory cytokines of lung tissue such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) (P < 0.001), interleukin 1
beta (IL-1β) (P < 0.010), and IL-6 (P < 0.050) in comparison with CTL group. Exercise training to some
degree reduced the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines and increased the level of IL-10 as an antiinflammatory IL and glutathione peroxidase (GPX) activity in animals exposed to WTS.
Conclusion: It is suggested that combination of mild to moderate exercise with WTS may attenuate the
hookah smoking-induced lung damage. This effect partly is mediated through balancing of pro/antiinflammatory and redox systems

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: There is an increasing popularity of waterpipe tobacco smoking (WTS) in youth and even in
athletes worldwide. Despite the existence of evidence of the harmful effects of hookah smoke on various
systems of the body, especially the cardiovascular system, its simultaneous effect with exercise training has
not been well studied. We assessed the effects of WTS exposure with/without swimming exercise on blood
pressure (BP), and heart histology and mechanical performance in male Wistar rats.
Methods: The animals were divided into 4 groups of sedentary control (CTL), waterpipe tobacco smoking (S),
mild endurance swimming exercise training (Ex), and waterpipe smoking plus exercise (S + Ex). The
duration of WTS and exercise was 8 weeks.
Findings: BP and heart rate (HR) did not show a significant difference among the groups. WTS increased the
TNF-α level of the heart (P < 0.05 vs. CTL) and cardiac tissue lesions (P < 0.05 vs. CTL), and reduced +dP/dt
max, -dp/dt max, and heart contractility indices (P < 0.01, P < 0.01, and P < 0.05, respectively, vs. CTL and
Ex groups). It also increased the Tau index (P < 0.05 vs. CTL; P < 0.01 vs. Ex groups) of the left ventricle.
However, the combination of exercise and WTS reduced the TNF-α level, improved the heart activity of
superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase enzymes, and prevented the negative effects of smoking on heart
function and morphology.
Conclusion: Mild exercise prevents WTS-induced left ventricular systolic and diastolic dysfunction partly via
improvement of antioxidants and attenuation of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
