- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Delivery is one of the critical stressful incidents in lives of most women and its associated complications can disturb the progress of labor and exacerbate post partum problems. Chewing gum is one of the new non-pharmacological methods to reduce stress. So far no study has been conducted to investigate the effect of chewing gum on the stress of labor.
Aim: To determine the effect of mint chewing gum on salivary cortisol in nulliparous women in the first stage of labor.
Methods: The study was a randomized, single-blind, controlled clinical trial in which 60 nulliparous women, who admitted at the first stage of labor in Omolbanin Hospital in Mashhad in 2012, were allocated to two experimental and control groups. The experimental group was asked to chew mint gum (1 gr) for 20 minutes and then their saliva sample were taken to measure cortisol level. Data were analyzed by independent and paried t-test in 5 percent level of significance with SPSS software version 11.5.
Results: The mean salivary cortisol levels at the first and second measurement were respectively 44/9 ± 12/7 and 41/4 ± 13/0 in experimental and also 39/3 ± 10/3 and 42/8 ± 11/0 nmol in control group. The salivary cortisol level showed a significant increase from the first to the second measurement in control group(P<0.009), whereas a significant decrease was seen in these two measurments in experimental group (P<0.014).Two groups were significantly different in terms of the changes in stress levels between two measurements (P>0/001).
Conclusion: Mint chewing gum reduces salivary cortisol level at the first stage of labor in nulliparous women, which is an evidence for reducing stress. Although careful judgment aboute the exact changes in stress level are needed both laboratory and clinical studies.- انتشار مقاله: 21-12-1391

- چکیده انگلیسی: Various studies have shown that genetic factors contribute substantially to the development and progression of diabetes. Renin-angiotensin system has long been proven to have a major role in cardiovascular physiology and pathology. Its major product Angiotensin II (Ang II) with pro oxidant properties has shown to predict the future risk of diabetes. Fluoxetine, a drug of choice in management of depression, was observed to reduce fasting blood sugar (FBS). In the present study, six common polymorphisms of genes encoding for RAS components were determined in DNAs extracted from venous blood of 100newly diagnosed depressed individuals taking 12 weeks of fluoxetine. Blood samples were collected prior and after the period of treatment in order to measure FBS. Our results indicate that carriers of GG genotype of ACE A2350G showed significantly lower FBS levels after fluoxetine treatment (P=0.043). On the other hand haplotype analysis designate a significant association between DTG carriers of ACE I/D, A-240T and A2350G (P=0.001) and reduced FBS levels. In conclusion, this study supports the hypothesis that RAS genetic variations affect blood glucose after a course of treatment in Iranian population with depression

- چکیده انگلیسی: Evidences suggest that besides the neurotransmitters contributing to the development of depression, renin-angiotensin system (RAS) may also have a substantial role. Certain polymorphisms of RAS are associated with over activity of RAS & depression. Considering that antidepressants reduce the actions of angiotensin II, the main product of RAS, this may come into mind that genetic polymorphisms of the mentioned system may affect the outcome of therapy in depressed patients.In the present study, 100 newly diagnosed depressed patients, according to DSM-IV criteria, were treated with 20 mg of fluoxetine for 8-12 weeks. Patients were categorized into responsive and non-responsive groups according to 50% reduction in symptoms. Genotype frequencies of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene [ACE (I/D, A-240T and A2350G)] were then determined in DNAs extracted from venous blood of the patients using polymerase chain reaction–restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR– RFLP) and PCR.Results indicate that polymorphisms studied and their haplotypes were not associated with better response to fluoxetine. However, a strong association between age and treatment in depressed Iranian patients was observed (P=0.001).In conclusion, unlike previous reports, this study does not support the hypothesis of special genotypes of RAS contributing to a better response to antidepressants in depressed patients.

- چکیده انگلیسی: In this work, methylene blue adsorption using the unconventional, natural, and low-cost adsorbent, Buxus sempervirens (Boxwood) leaf powder (BLP), was studied. Several experiments were conducted for the investigation of different process variables. Also different techniques such as XRF, XRD, SEM, FT-IR and N2 adsorption-desorption analysis were applied for the characterization of BLP. Adsorption kinetic models showed that the pseudo-second-order by R2 = 0.999 was well adapted. Two isotherms models, Langmuir and Freundlich, were selected to check of the amount of color removal. Methylene blue (MB) maximum adsorption capacities can attain 384.61 mg.g-1 from the Langmuir isotherm. The values of ∆G0 for adsorption of MB onto BLP ranges from -19.44 to -24.07 kJ.mol-1, demonstrating that the adsorption process was spontaneous and irreversible. The removal of dye was considerably increased by increasing the temperature, which suggested that the adsorption process was endothermic. All results indicate that BLP can be feasibly employed for the elimination of MB from an aqueous solution.

- چکیده انگلیسی: In this paper, we propose a numerical model for Four-Wave Mixing (FWM)
efficiency in quantum dot semiconductor optical amplifiers (QD-SOAs). Despite the
complexities of the equations governing the QD-SOAs, simple models with short
computational time are essential to analyze and design them. We present equations of
the QD-SOAs coherently and calculate FWM efficiency in the QD-SOA using the
pump/probe technique. In this model, the rate equations take into account the
occupation probabilities of each level instead of the carrier of densities. Moreover, the
transfer matrix based on the pump/probe measurement technique is solved in two
dimensions, space and time, using the Slice technique. The described model is
implemented in the MATLAB environment. The proposed model is simpler than similar

- چکیده انگلیسی: Abstract: We present the optimization of the manufacturing process of the 5nm bulk-
FinFET technology by using the 3D process and device simulations. In this paper, by
simulating the manufacturing processes, we focus on optimizing the manufacturing
process to improve the drive current of the 5nm FinFET. The improvement of drive
current is one of the most important issues in the FinFETs design. We first investigate
the impact of manufacturing process parameters include gate oxide thickness, type of
the gate oxide, height of fin, and doping of the source and drain region on threshold
voltage, breakdown voltage, and drive current of the transistor. Then, by selecting the
optimal parameters of the manufacturing process, we improve the drive current of the

- چکیده انگلیسی: With the advancement of nanoscale semiconductor technology,
semiconductor optical amplifiers are used to amplify and process all-optical signals. In
this paper, with the aim of calculating the gain of quantum dot semiconductor optical
amplifier (QD-SOA), two groups of rate equations and the optical signal propagating
equation are used in the active layer of the device. For this purpose, the related
equations are presented coherently. In our model, the rate equations that are ordinary
differential equations (ODE) are solved by the Runge-Kutta method. The rate equations
are based on the occupation probabilities of the energy levels instead of the carrier
densities. On the other hand, the signal propagating equation is a partial differential
equation (PDE) and is solved by using the SLICE technique. Therefore, a suitable
solution for numerical modeling is presented. Based on the presented method, modeling
is implemented in the MATLAB environment. The modeling results show a remarkable
accuracy of the model. Also, the proposed model is simple and the runtime is too short

- چکیده انگلیسی: We present the design and simulation of a single-walled carbon nanotube
(SWCNT)-based field-effect transistor (FET) using Silvaco TCAD. In this paper, the
self-heating effect modeling of the CNT MOSFET structure is performed and compared
with conventional MOSFET structure having same channel length. The numerical
results are presented to show the self-heating effect on the I–V characteristics of the
CNT MOSFET and conventional MOSFET structures. Results from numerical
simulation show that the maximum temperature rise and the performance degradation of
the CNT MOSFET are quite lower than that of the conventional MOSFET counterpart.
These advantages are contributed by the good electrical and thermal properties of the
SWCNTs. Therefore, SWCNT materials have a high capability for the development of
active devices with low power dissipation and good reliability at high operating

- چکیده انگلیسی: Recently, there has been a great deal of interest in the use of the medicinal plants with high antioxidant compounds for curing liver injuries induced by hepatoxcitic agents. This study was to assess the protective effect of Carum carvi L. essential oil (E.O) on the hepatoxitic rats induced by overdose of iron oxide nanoparticles (NPs). The rats were distributed to 4 groups. In negative control group (NC), the rats received normal saline and DMSO daily for 3 days. In control group (C), iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe2O3) (200 mg/kg b.w) was injected daily for 3 days. In the treatment groups, iron oxide nanoparticles plus E.O at 100 & 200 mg/kg b.w were injected daily for 3 days. In following, cytochrome P450 (CYP450), glutathione S-transferase (GST), glutathione (GSH), aspartate transaminase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and alanine transaminase (ALT) were estimated at 72 h after NP-treatment. The administration of the E.O could return considerably the decrease of the GST and GSH levels as well as the increase of the level of AST induced by iron oxide NPs. These results are in agreement with histopathological results. The data indicated that E.O provided an efficient prevention against iron oxide NPs-induced hepatotoxicity in rats.
