- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common chronic motor disability, which can have negative impacts on social behavior of mothers as the primary caregivers.
Aim: To investigate the effect of an intervention program based on the self-management empowerment model on the anger and social isolation of mothers with CP children.
Method: This randomized controlled clinical trial was performed on 72 mothers of CP in Bushehr and Shiraz, Iran, 2015. We employed Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire and the UCLA Loneliness Scale for data collection. The intervention group received self-management empowerment in five steps and two face-to-face sessions and was followed up regularly for 1.5 months. Thereafter, anger and social isolation of both groups were reexamined. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-square test, independent t-test, paired t-test, and Mann-Whitney test in SPSS, version 18.
Results: The mean ages of the intervention and control groups were respectively 28.1±6.09 and 28.1±5.8 years, which independent t-test showed to be homogenous (P=0.31). Before the intervention, there was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of aggression (P=0.58) and loneliness scores (P=0.93); however, after the intervention, independent t-test reflected significant inter-group differences in terms of both scores (P<0.001).
Implications for Practice: The designed empowerment program could reduce the anger of mothers of CP children and serve as a framework for empowering these mothers in healthcare and rehabilitation centers. - چکیده انگلیسی: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between spiritual well-being and sense of coherence in the mothers having children with chronic diseases. To this end, a controlled cross-sectional evaluation was conducted on 300 mothers, divided into two groups of 150 cases with healthy and chronically ill children in the city of Kerman, Iran, in 2016. The data were collected using the Platosin and Alison's Spiritual Wellbeing Scale and Atonovesky’s Sense of Coherence Scale. The mean ages of the mothers with healthy children and those with chronically ill children were 36.1±4.6 and 37.7±6.2 years, respectively. The linear regression analysis showed that by controlling the effect of the groups (i.e., the mother with a healthy or chronically ill child), the spiritual well-being score had a significant impact on the sense of coherence (P=0.001). It was concluded that the promotion of spiritual well-being, especially existential well-being, could potentially develop the sense of coherence in the mothers with chronically ill children by helping them better control the diseases of their children.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Introduction: With the evergrowing increase of knowledge in today's global society, teachers now feel it is necessity to train students to become reflective thinkers. This issue is particularly important for nursing students who are responsible for taking care of patients. The purpose of this study is to investigate nursing students’ views on reflection in practice. Materials & methods: Forty two nursing students voluntarily participated in this study. After explaining the aims of the study to the participants, they took part in the clinical skills test. They were divided into two equal case and control groups. The control group took part in routine clinical programs and the case group participated routine clinical programs as well as this study's interventional program. They were asked to reflect on their clinical experiences for the last 12 weeks of their clinical course and take part in the clinical skills test again. Results: The results obtained in this study are based on statistical data and t-test results. The results confirm the role of reflection on clinical competency, and the two groups were different with respect to learning clinical skills. Conclusion: Since the clinical skills test is a specific test for evaluating clinical skills, the notable change is considerablly valuable and reflection is suggested to be implemented in the nursing curriculum in Iran as one of the necessary criteria for competency.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Introduction: The significance of fostering critical thinking in students has been explicated by the increasing rate of knowledge and information. To assimilate knowledge and to assess the considerable amount of information, students need to develop their thinking skills. Considering reflection as a teaching strategy and one of the most effective ways for fostering thinking, this study was designed to determine the effect of reflection on thinking skills of nursing students at Tabriz faculty of nursing and midwifery. Methods: 42 nursing students participated in this study voluntarily. After receiving the necessary information regarding their participation they took California Critical Thinking Skill Test. Then they were divided into 2 equal case and control groups. Both groups had their routine clinical programs, but the interventional program was offered only to the case group. This interventional program consisted of 3 main parts: A 4 day workshop on reflection and 12 weeks reflection on their clinical experiences, concluding dialog journals and writing up logs. At the end of their clinical program, both groups took the same test as pretest. Data were analyzed by paired T-test and T-test. Results: Results of the study revealed that reflection has been effective on improving inductive reasoning and total scores of critical thinking skills of students. Conclusion: Improving general critical thinking skills due to a disciplinary specific strategy was a valuable outcome. Regarding this results, reflection is recommended to be infused in our educational program.
