- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: For a long time, “attitude” was considered an effective factor in student-teacher interaction and students’ progress in traditional education. Recently, it is studied as a motivational factor in learners’ engagement in distance and e-learning education. Objectives: This study tried to find out the correlation between “attitude” and “persistence” in e-learning education. Methods: To explore the probable correlation between students’ attitudes and their persistence in e-learning systems a survey was conducted to seek students’ attitudes toward online course, online interaction, and some of e-communication tools, namely online chat, discussion forum, and e-mail. A sample of 744 students was obtained from 5,285 e-learning undergraduate students who were formally accepted to study in online courses at three Iranian universities from 2014 to 2017. The instruments were two researcher made questionnaires for persistent and non-persistent students in e-learning systems. Results: Findings showed a positive, direct, and significant relationship between students’ persistence and their attitudes toward online course (r = 0.744; P = 0.014) and online interaction (r = 0.863; P = 0.001) in e-learning. Also, there was a relationship between students’ attitudes toward online interaction with the frequency of student-professor interaction (r = 0.943, P < 0.001) and the frequency of student-student interaction (r = 0.793, P = 0.006). Conclusions: The observed positive and significant relationship between students’ attitudes toward online interaction and persistence showed that students’ persistence can be increased through enhancing student-professor and student-student interactions in e-learning systems.

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Implication of blended learning could compensate both the limitations of time and geographic distance presented in traditional classroom methods and deficiencies of class interaction and learners support that are peculiar to e-learning methods. To this aim, the present study was designed to examine and analyze the requirements for blended learning implications in higher education from faculty members’ point of view. Methods: The study was conducted during spring of 2016 at the Semnan province Payam Noor branches. Participants in this study were 70 academic members of Semnan Payam Noor University, who were randomly selected by the Krejcie and Morgan formula from 85 faculty members. The data collection instrument was a newly developed questionnaire, the validity of which was determined by seeking views of 15 specialists in e-learning using the Delphi method. The reliability of the questionnaire was estimated through calculating internal consistency of items (α = 0.95). To analyze factors underlying specified requirements by the questionnaire, a factor analysis was conducted by the SPSS V.18 software. Results: Factor analysis of academic members’ views resulted in 5 factors constituting “infrastructure, political, professional, organizational, and instructional” requirements. From academic members’ point of view, infrastructure requirements with nine loaded items were the most preliminary considerations for blended learning implication and accounted for 49.24% of the total variance. The second factor, political requirements, with six loaded items accounted for 7.75% of total variance. The third factor, professional requirements, with five loaded items, accounted for 6.29 of the total variance. The fourth factor, organizational requirements, with three loaded items and the fifth factor, instructional requirements, with two loaded items accounted for 4.61% and 4.34% of the total variance, respectively. Conclusions: The findings showed that successful implementation of blended learning would result from considerations, such as “allocation of sufficient funds” and “provision of necessary software/hardware facilities” for blended learning in policies of universities and higher education institutions.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Reading comprehension is one of the primary skills required of students in elementary schools. Various factors can influence this skill, including bilingualism. Owing to the variety of languages and dialects in Iran, a large number of students learn Farsi as a second language; consequently, they are faced with numerous challenges in acquiring high-level skills such as reading and writing. The present study was aimed at comparing reading comprehension and reading accuracy between bilingual Arabic and Farsi-speaking and monolingual Farsi-speaking fifth grade children in Ahvaz. Methods: This cross-sectional, descriptive analytic study was carried out employing a random sample of 165 bilingual students (91 girls and 74 boys), and 159 monolingual students (79 girls and 80 boys). The students were evaluated in terms of reading accuracy and comprehension skills using some selected parts from a reading test developed by Shafei et al., in 2009. Finally, mean scores were compared between the two groups employing the independent samples t-test.Results: Both reading comprehension and accuracy were significantly higher in monolinguals compared to bilingual Arabic/Farsi-speaking students (P=0.000). Gender stratified results showed higher levels of reading comprehension skills in both monolingual girls (P=0.000) and boys (P=0.03) in comparison to bilinguals. However, in the reading accuracy subtest, only monolingual girls had a significantly superior performance than the bilinguals (P=0.000).Conclusion: Overall, our results showed lower levels of reading comprehension and accuracy skills in bilingual fifth grade students in comparison to their monolingual peers in the city of Ahvaz. It seems that even in the late elementary school years, bilingual children have not attained the same level as their monolingual peers. Due to the importance of reading skills in academic achievement and day-to-day life, we highly recommend the implementation of measures toward improving these skills among bilingual elementary school students.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Reading is known as one of the most important learning tools. Research results consistently have shown that even a mild hearing impairment could affect the reading skills. Due to the reported differences in reading comprehension skills between hearing impaired students and their normal hearing peers, this research was conducted to compare the differences between the two groups. The other aim was to find any changes in the reading ability of hearing impaired group during elementary school. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional (descriptive–analytic) one in which reading comprehension ability of 91 students with severe and profound hearing impairment ( 33 girls and 58 boys ) from 2nd up to 5th grade of exceptional schools were compared with 50 2nd grade normal hearing students in Ahvaz, Iran. The first section of Diagnostic Reading Test (Shirazi – Nilipour, 2004) was used in this study. Then the mean reading scores of hearing impaired students in each grade was compared with control group using SPSS 13 with Mann Whitney test. Results: There was a significant difference between average scores of hearing impaired students (boys and girls) in 2nd to 5th grade with normal hearing students of 2nd grade (P<0.001). Reading comprehension scores of students with hearing impairment in higher grades had improved slightly, but it was still lower than that of the normal hearing students in the 2nd grade. Conclusion: It appears that reading comprehension skill of students with significant hearing impairment near the end of elementary school years becomes weaker than normal hearing students in the second grade. Therefore, it is essential to find and resolve the underlying reasons of this condition by all professionals who work in the field of education and rehabilitation of these students.

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Introduction:
Sensory deprivations such as hearing impairment that affect sensory input have a secondary impact on cognitive functions such as working memory (WM). WM capacity is an important cognitive component that processes language-related activities. Moreover, several studies have shown a deficit in WM in children with a cochlear implant (CI). We aimed to assess the performance of children with CIs in pre- and post-training sessions and compare their scores on a battery of WM tests to investigate the efficacy of a WM training program.
Materials and Methods:
Twenty-five children aged 7–10 years with a CI participated in this study. To train their WM, a computer game was used. In order to examine auditory WM, a test battery including standardized digit span (forward and backward variations), non-word and sentence repetition (subtest of the Test of Language Development–Primary) were assessed in pre- and post-training test sessions at Shiraz Implant Center.
Results:
There were statistically significant differences between pre- and post-training test scores on all subtests. Test score differences were statistically significant for forward digit span (P=0.003), backward digit span (P=0.001), non-word repetition (P=0.001), and sentence repetition tasks (P=0.003) before and after training sessions.
Conclusion:
Training may enhance WM capacity. With regards to the importance of WM in literacy and learning, it seems applying such intervention programs may be helpful in the rehabilitation of implanted children.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Dye-containing wastewater is one of the main environmental challenges that can cause health issues. It is crucial to remove the dyes from wastewater before its discharge into the environment. This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of aptenia cordifolia mucilage in removal of anionic dyes from textile wastewater via coagulation and flocculation process. To this goal, the effect of different parameters including pH, initial dye concentration, concentration of plant mucilage and temperature on the efficiency of dye removal were investigated. The effect of application of poly(propylene imine) dendrimer (PPI) with the plant mucilage on the efficiency of dye removal process was evaluated.
The results showed that the maximum dye removal with aptenia cordifolia (85.41 %) was obtained when using 5 mg of the plant mucilage at 25 °C and pH=4. Moreover, it was found that increasing the concentration of the plant mucilage and the initial dye concentration increased the dye removal efficiency. The application of 1 mg poly(propylene imine) dendrimer increased the efficiency of plant mucilage in the removal of anionic dye from aqueous solution from 85.41% to 92.18%.
According to the results of this study, the application of aptenita cordifolia mucilage can be a beneficial, affordable and environmentally-friendly approach in the removal of textile anionic dyes from aqueous solutions.- انتشار مقاله: 08-10-1398

- چکیده انگلیسی: Parkinson's disease is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system. It results from the death of dopamine-containing cells in the substantia nigra, a region of the midbrain; the cause of cell-death is unknown. Procyclidine is used to treat parkinsonism (slowed movements, stiffness of the body, uncontrollable body movements, weakness, tiredness, soft voice, and other symptoms caused by damaged nerves in the brain). Procyclidine is also used to treat problems with moving and drooling that may be caused by certain medications for mental illness. Procyclidine is in a class of medications called antispasmodics or antimuscarinics. It works by preventing sudden tightening of the muscles. In this Study at the first compounds [C60- Procyclidine–Cn-2X]+ and [Procyclidine-Cn-2X]+ (X=F,Cl,Br) were optimized (n is similar to in two compound). All calculations is done in 6-31g* basis set in HF method and in gas phase. The results showed that the energy levels of molecular orbital (HOMO & LUMO) in the RF has the lowest value. C62-X, C62-N61 has a length of the shortest bond and the bond has most power. Comparison of the dipole moments of compounds shows this trend: R-2Br > R-2Cl> R-2F.This is noticeable that the trends in these compounds are quite similar but the values in only drug are more intense than drug with fullerene.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Heavy school bags increase students’ musculoskeletal disorders. According to instructions, weight of school bags should not exceed 10% of students’ body weight. This study aimed at investigating the ratio of school bags weight to students’ body weight and evaluating the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 723 students were selected from six elementary schools in Kerman. Such information as the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders and demographic characteristics were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire. Results: The highest prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders was related to shoulders, neck, and waist. Indeed, weight of 50.1% of students’ bags was over 10% of their body weight. The results showed a significant relationship between the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders and school bags’ weight to students’ weight ratio (P = 0.03). Additionally, such disorders were significantly more frequent among students of higher grades. Conclusions: This study revealed a significant relationship between school bags’ weight and musculoskeletal disorders.
