- چکیده انگلیسی: Carbon molecular sieve membranes (CMSMs) have been considered as very promising candidates for gas separation, in terms of separation properties as well as thermal and chemical stability. Due to the numerous advantages and wide applications of carbon membranes, their application for gas separation is of special importance. Because of the importance of carbon membranes and a large number of studies in the field of carbon membrane fabrication, in this study, mathematical modeling of the gas separation process in CMSMs has been investigated. Flat configuration is considered for the membrane, which has been applied for the separation process of CH4 and C2H6. The Runge-Kutta method has been applied in order to solve the model. In the mentioned model, the sorption-diffusion mechanism has been considered as a dominant one for gas separation with CMSM. By comparing theoretical results with experimental ones for binary diffusion, good agreement was obtained. Finally, the effect of some parameters such as effective area of the module, module temperature, total feed pressure and feed flow rate on the purity of components in the retentate and permeate stream and recovery of fast components in the permeate stream have been investigated. Results demonstrated that increasing the effective area, membrane temperature and total feed pressure increased the recovery of the fast component in the permeate side, while the feed flow rate had an adverse effect.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Coenzyme Q10 is a promising agent for neuroprotection in neurodegenerative diseases. Neuroprotective effects of Coenzyme Q10 demonstrated in some neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson, Alzheimer and etc. Hippocampus is home of these diseases. We assayed Coenzyme Q10 effects on Hippocampal injury model and our hypothesis is that Coenzyme Q10 has Neuroprotective effects in some neurodegenerative diseases via hippocampus. For this purpose 24 Balb/c mouse took in 4 groups: Control (Without any treatment), Vehicle (Treated with sesame oil as Coenzyme Q10 vehicle), Hyppocampal injury model (Treated with Trimethyltin chlorideneurotoxin, 2.5 mg per kg IP), and test (Treated with Coenzyme Q10 after Trimethyltin chloride injection, 10 mg per kg IP for 2 weeks). After two weeks brain harvested and hippocampus tissue assayed by Nissl and Tunnel staining. Hystological study showed significantly increase of normal cells and decrease of apoptotic cells in test group after Coenzyme Q10 treatment in hippocampus. This study showed Coenzyme Q10 has protective effects in hippocampus after injury and it seems that Neuroprotective effects of Coenzyme Q10 in some neurodegenerative diseases com from that.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective(s): 3, 4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) one of the methamphetamine derivatives that affect the reproductive system, has not been well understood. Many young people are consumers of drugs such as MDMA that can affect their reproductive capability. Apoptosis is the main mechanism for male infertility. Pentoxifylline (PTX) increases cAMP intracellularly and reduces tumor necrosis factor-α. This study aimed to investigate the protective effect of PTX administration in MDMA-induced apoptosis in testes of male Wistar rats. Materials and Methods: Thirty male Wistar rats weighing 250–300 g were randomly divided into five groups: control group (without any intervention), group receiving 7.5 mg/kg MDMA three times every two hours for one day, first experimental group receiving 100 mg/kg PTX just at the time of third injection of MDMA, second experimental group receiving 100 mg/kg PTX a week before MDMA administration, and the vehicle group, which received MDMA+saline. Two weeks later, testes were removed and prepared for H&E staining, TUNEL and Western blot techniques. Results: There was a significant decrease of the score in the MDMA group compared with the control group. In first and second experimental groups, the quality of seminiferous epithelium was improved compared with the MDMA group. The number of TUNEL-positive cells/tubule increased in MDMA and vehicle groups, which is decreased by administration of PTX before MDMA. Expression of active caspase-3 significantly increased in MDMA group, which is significantly decreased by administration of PTX before MDMA. Conclusion: PTX can significantly reduce the severity of lesions in the testes following administration of MDMA.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective(s): Intracerebral injection of bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) is being investigated as a therapeutic tool to prevent Alzheimer's disease (AD). Our aim was to investigate the effects of BMSCs by intrathecal injection in AD rat model.
Materials and Methods: BMSCs were obtained from the bone marrow of Wistar rat and transplanted into AD rat model via intrathecal injection. The rat model had received an injection of β amyloid into the hippocampus for histological and immunohistochemical studies.
Results: Histological examination of the brains in transplanted rats compared to controls demonstrated the migration of BrdU-labeled BMSCs from the site of delivery, confirmed the differentiation of BMSCs transplanted cells into the cholinergic neurons, and increased number of healthy and decreased number of dark neurons.
Conclusion: Our results showed that BMSCs intratechal administration could be a promising method for treatment ofAlzheimer’s disease in rat model.- انتشار مقاله: 11-03-1394

- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective(s) The brief interruption of cerebral blood flow causes permanent brain damage and behavioral dysfunction. The hippocampus is highly vulnerable to ischemic insults, particularly the CA1 pyramidal cell layer. There is no effective pharmacological strategy for improving brain tissue damage induced by cerebral ischemia. Previous studies reported that pentoxifylline (PTX) has a neuroprotective effect on brain trauma. The possible neuroprotector effects of PTX on behavioral deficit were studied in male Wistar rats subjected to a model of transient global brain ischemia. Materials and Methods Animals (n= 32) were assigned to control, sham-operated, vehicle, and PTX- treated (200 mg/kg IP) groups. PTX administered at 1hr before and 3 hr after ischemia. Global cerebral ischemia was induced by bilateral common carotid artery occlusion, followed by reperfusion. Results Morris Water maze testing revealed that PTX administration in cerebral ischemia significantly improved hippocampal-dependent memory and cognitive spatial abilities after reperfusion as compared to sham-operated and vehicle-treated animals. After the behavioral test, the rats were sacrificed and brain sections were stained with Nissl staining. There were no significant differences between number of pyramidal cells in both control and PTX groups. Conclusion Our study demonstrated that pentoxifylline had a protective effect on rats with transient global ischemia and could reduce cognitive impairment.

- چکیده انگلیسی: The aim of this study was to evaluate the adsorption capacity of the novel coated activated carbon by chitosan for removal of Cr (VI) and Cd (II) ions from single and bi-solute dilute aqueous solutions. In addition, the adsorption abilities of activated carbon (AC), chitosan (CH) and chitosan / activated carbon composite (CHAC) have been compared. Adsorption studies were performed in a batch system, and the effects of various operating parameters such as solution pH, particle size and the dose of adsorbent were considered for removal of Cr (VI) and Cd (II) by Taguchi method. Equilibrium experimental data were well fitted to Langmuir isotherm for single and bi-solute solutions. The adsorption capacities of AC and CH adsorbents have improved by synthesis CHAC composite. As it was expected, competitive adsorption of metal ions on the CHAC surface led to reducing the adsorption capacity from 90.9 mg g-1 to 41.94 mg g-1 for Cr (VI) and 52.63 mg g-1 to 30.21 mg g-1 for Cd (II) ions, respectively. The adsorption capacities for the metal solution–adsorbent systems are in the order Cr (VI) > Cd (II). The kinetic studies indicated that the adsorption process was best described by the pseudo-second-order kinetics for single and bi-solute solutions.
