- چکیده انگلیسی: Adsorption of Pb(II), Zn(II), Cu(II), and Cd(II) ions onto Mesembryanthemum activated carbon in a batch experimentby taking the consideration of adsorbent particle size, initial concentration, temperature, and pH was studied. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were tested to fit the equilibrium data. Freundlich isotherm model gave a better fit to our experimental data than the Langmuir model. The adsorption capacity values were 66.67, 52.63, 45.45, and 40.00 mg/g for Pb(II), Zn(II), Cu(II), and Cd(II), respectively. The ideal pH for all metal ions adsorption was at pH 5. The obtained thermodynamic parameters suggested that the adsorption process was physical, spontaneous (ΔGo< 0), and endothermic (ΔHo> 0).

- چکیده انگلیسی: The complexation reaction between salen (Bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine) and Cu(II) cations in methanol (MeOH), 2-propanol (2-PrOH), acetonitrile (AN), tetrahydrofuran (THF), and chloroform (CHCl3) as nonaqueous solvents at 25º C has been investigated. The stoichiometry and formation constants of complexes have been determined spectrophotometrically and conductometrically by method of continuous variations and mole ration method. The stoichiometry of Cu(II)-salen complexes in all solvents were 1:1 (ML) type using the two methods. By method of continuous variation, chloroform > 2-propanol > methanol ~ acetonitrile ~ tetrahydrofuran. However, by mole ratio method, the order of stability was as follows: chloroform ~ tetrahydrofuran > 2-propanol > methanol ~ acetonitrile. The resulting average of pKf values in each solvent using the two spectrophotometric methods was as follows: 7.40, 6.89, 6.8, 6.22, and 6.18 for chloroform, 2-propanol, tetrahydrofuran, acetonitrile, and methanol, respectively. The Cu(II) cation formed a more stable complex with salen in chloroform. However, the less stable complex was in methanol.

- چکیده انگلیسی: The study of permeation of Aromatic compounds across parchment-supported membrane treated with Prussian blue is presented. The skin layer of the metal hexacyanoferrate membrane consists of a network structure could be selectively used with defined pore size in the nanometer range to permeate molecules with different size molecules. In order to demonstrate a possible sieving of molecules, we have investigated the permeation of a variety of aromatic compounds such as aniline (An), phenol (Ph), and naphthalene (Np). For these neutral compounds, a size-selective transport was found. Size lead to a separation factor α(An/Ph) of 1.5 and α(An/Np) of 4 respectively. Finally, it is demonstrated that purely inorganic membrane of Prussian Blue (PB) can be prepared upon adsorption of ferric ion and hexacyanoferrate on porous support.

- چکیده انگلیسی: The coffee and tea powders were investigated to be as a novel low-cost non-conventional biosorbent for the removal of Fe (III) from aqueous solutions. Biosorption isotherms and kinetics were also assessed. The studied operating parameters were initial Fe (III) concentration, contact time, pH, and biosorbent dose. The adsorption capacity was significantly increased from 9.18 mg/g to 54.14 mg/g when the initial metal ion concentration increased from 20 to 120 ppm. However, the adsorbed amount of Fe was improved from 2.29 to 23.31 mg/g when the biosorbent dose decreased from 1.0 to 0.1 g. Biosorption isothermal data could be well simulated by Langmuir, Freundlich, and then Temkin models denoted by high correlation coefficient values (R2 > 0.95). However, the Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherms model gives the least fit to experimental data. Langmuir adsorption capacities of coffee and tea were 85.5 and 285 mg/g, respectively. The kinetic data fitted very well to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. As indicated by the biosorption capacity, coffee and tea powder are considered to be an efficient, low cost, and environmentally friendly biosorbent for the removal of Fe (III) ions from aqueous solutions.
