- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Due to unpredictability of events in psychiatry environment and replacement of routine clinical experiences with some assignments such as therapeutic communication with patients, clinical training in such environments has been associated with many problems which require continuous review and evaluation. The purpose of the present research was to determine the effect of applying portfolio on the level of learning among nursing students in internship of psychiatry ward.
Methods: It was a semi-experimental study on 60 nursing students of the 4th semester who were passing internship in Ibne-Sina psychiatry hospital of Mashhad (summer, 2014), they have been studied in two groups of Portfolio and Educational purposes (the usual method of evaluation) non-randomly. Before intervention, the educational purposes were matched for both groups. The questionnaire of evaluating the level of learning among nursing students (by teachers and students), and written-functional test were used to obtain data. Data has been analyzed by version 11.5 SPSS software, COSCO statistical tests, Fisher's exact and independent t-test (p<0.05).
Results: The participants consisted 48.3% (29 individuals) female and 51.7% (31 individuals) male. The results of independent t-test showed that there was significant difference between the group of Portfolio (81.3±9.3) and Educational purposes (62.4±4.8) in terms of mean score of learning by teachers and also by the students, and there was significant difference between groups of Portfolio (72.7±13.6) and Educational purposes (59.1±16.3) (p<0.001).
Conclusions: According to teachers and students,applying portfolio on nursing students may leads to clinical learning improvement. So, it can be recommended to the nursing teachers to use portfolio in their clinical trainings.- انتشار مقاله: 19-04-1394

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Faculty members are the main sources of universities. Determination and promotion of their competencies lead to the overall performance promotion of universities. Faculty members’ teaching competencies have the greatest role in the improvement of education, research and universities social services quality. Therefore, in order to investigate this issue more carefully, this study aimed to determine the level of teaching competency in medical faculty members and factors affecting it. Methods: This applied research is a descriptive cross-sectional study that was done by stratified probability sampling with 160 medical faculty members as subjects (32 basic science faculty members, 128 clinical science faculty members) in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, solar year 1390.. Selected items from Alabama University teaching competency self assessment instrument was used as the questionnaire. The data were analyzed with the software SPSS 11.0. Results: The median score of teaching competency was 92.0 with the minimum score of 39.0 and maximum score of 112.0; there was no significant difference between basic and clinical faculty members’ competencies score (p=0/05).The most powerful competency was the classroom management, and students performance evaluation had the lowest score. There was a significant difference between teaching competency scores depending on academic degree (p=0/009), adult education competencies (p=0/02), and marriage (p=0/03). Conclusions: Because of the key role of faculty members in educational system, with the revision of educational plans and policies; we can promote the teaching competencies of teachers.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Time management, especially at university is an important factor contributing to the academic success of students. However, majority of students relentlessly delay their academic work. Drawing upon the literature, we attempted to identify the characteristics of academic procrastination.
Methods: For the review, articles, books and theses in English and Persian were identified with a search of Scopus, Proquest, Pubmed, Magiran, and SID databases using the keywords such as procrastination, academic procrastination, academic cunctation, academic shillyshally, and academic dilatoriness. However our search was not limited by a time frame.
Results: We identified 603 articles and theses by searching the databases. Sifting through the information, we consulted only 27 articles and 2 theses which were relevant to our study. After a perusal of literature on academic procrastination, we identified procrastination issues (i.e definition, prevalence, types of procrastination, academic procrastination, features) and its associated factors.
Conclusions: Given that procrastination is a disruptive factor in academic achievement, teachers and students can use the results of this study to identify the behavior of procrastination and related factors.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: The increasing attention and trend towards complementary and alternative medicine and the usage of such treatments in different nations has highlighted the need for their insertion into the medical curriculum from the basic and clinical sciences courses up to in Continued Medical Education (CME) programs. The familiarity of physicians with complementary therapies is of great importance. The aim of this study was to determine the topics required in the general medical curriculum in the field of complementary and alternative medicine so that they can be further applied by educational planers and administrators.
Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study. Regarding the importance of need assessment, at first the agreement-centric Delphi method was used by 15 faculty members and medical students (five faculty members of traditional medicine, five faculty members of clinical sciences and five students) in 3 rounds. With the distribution of open-response questions, the necessary topics in the field of complementary and alternative medicine were covered and after finalization, a structured questionnaire was prepared. In the next step the validity and reliability of the structured questionnaire was studied, then it was completed by 169 cases of the study population and the results were disclosed.
Results: The following results were obtained on the needs of the medical curriculum regarding the alternative and complementary medicine: acupuncture: 80.5%; chiropractic: 66.85%, homeopathy: 63.99%, yoga/ tai chi/ spiritual healing/ relaxation: 87.56%, reflexology: 63.35%, hypnotherapy: 63.89%, herbal therapy: 80.46%, damp and dry cupping: 46.73% and massage therapy: 25.50%. Accordingly, the first priority was yoga/ tai chi/ spiritual healing/ relaxation whereas the last priority was massage therapy.
Conclusion: The ultimate goal of complementary and alternative medicine training for medical students is to prepare them for a logical and informed encounter with an important challenge in medicine. Therefore, a change in the training programs of medical faculties seems necessary based on the need assessments having been performed in this respect.- انتشار مقاله: 27-04-1397

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: One of the necessities of doctor of medicine (M.D.) curriculum is educating seven competencies, including personal development competency, which helps students acquire and use effective abilities in their personal and professional life, including self-knowledge, psychology of change, strategic and management principles, and informatics. Given the importance of this type of competency in performing professional roles by graduates, this study aimed to analyze the M.D. learning environment regarding attention to education personal development competency.
Methods: This qualitative case study was performed in research environment of Mashhad School of Medicine and included 34 M.D. students, six faculty members (M.D. course), three medical education experts, four department managers, and two heads of university, selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected after 15 semi-structured interviews, two focus group discussions (FGD) and four observations, and review if documents. Notably, the process continued to reach data saturation. Moreover, the data obtained was managed in MAXQDA-10 software, and data analysis was performed by qualitative content analysis method based on Graneheim & Lundman’s six-stage model.
Results: The collected data were summarized in sematic units and turned into 33 sub-themes by forming, comparing and systematically classifying 302 primary codes. Undervaluing personal development competency in some M.D. levels, eliminating competency-related courses in the current curriculum, excessive thickening of the curriculum with theoretical content, lack of a specific model for fostering competency, lack of using new technologies, improper content and strategies, cultural-social gap, environmental limitations, inefficient evaluation and the art of turning knowledge into practice were among the most important sub-themes obtained in the study. In the end, five themes (paradoxes of curriculum, learning experiences, balance in distribution, authentic evaluation and professors’ ability) were extracted in response to research questions.
Conclusion: According to the results, the learning environment of school of medicine had unfavorable condition for education personal development competency. Therefore, our findings can be used to design proper learning environments to nurture this competency.- انتشار مقاله: 22-07-1398

- چکیده انگلیسی: Like other structures, shallow domes have imperfections from the prescribed values obtained by specifications during the construction process. Specifications define some tolerance values for imperfections. Despite consideration of these values, the critical load of a dome varies for each imperfection pattern. So the reliability plays an important role in domes safety. Theoretical evaluation procedure is the most accurate one to obtain reliability function, but it is only applicable to small structures. Semi-empirical evaluation procedure, on the other hand, is more implemented. In the present research reliability of real domes with stochastic initial imperfections has been investigated by comparing finite elements method, theoretical and semi-empirical results. Also, it has been shown that the automatic perturbed analysis is not sufficiently reliable for domes. So it is recommend that a suitable safety factor be applied on the automatic perturbed load or the method utilized in this paper be used to obtain the critical load – reliability diagram.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Positive and negative co-stimulatory molecules are important factors determining the outcome
of immune responses to the presence of tumors. Since co-stimulatory molecule expression may be affected by gene
polymorphisms, we aimed to investigate associations between variants of PD.1 and ICOS and susceptibility to colon
cancer. Material and methods: ICOS (-693A/G), ICOS (+1720C/T) and PD.1 (-538G/A) gene polymorphisms were
evaluated by the PCR-RFLP method in 76 colon cancer patients and 73 healthy controls. Results: The frequencies
of the GG genotype and the G allele at position -693 of the ICOS gene were significantly higher in the patient group
(P=0.014 and p=0.0002), while the AA genotype was significantly more common in controls (P=0.0016). At position
-538 of PD.1, GG genotype and G allele frequencies were higher in the patient group (PAA and also AG genotypes significantly predominated in controls (Pand alleles of ICOS at position +1720. Frequencies of GCG and GTG haplotypes were higher in patients compared
to those of controls (P=0.016 and P<0.0001), while, frequencies of GTA, ATA and ATG haplotypes were higher in
controls (P=0.0017, Ppatients compared to controls (P=0.0147 and P=0.0071). Conclusion: Our study clarified that PD.1 (-538G/A) and
ICOS (-693A/G) gene polymorphisms can be considered as genetic risk factors for the development of colon cancer

- چکیده انگلیسی: This paper studies the inverse 2-center location problem by increasing and decreasing the edge length on unweighted tree networks. The goal is to increase and decrease the edge lengths at minimum total cost subject to the given modification bounds such that the predetermined vertices becomes absolute 2-center. In order to demonstrate the practical application of this issue, we consider Bojnourd urban network and two important fire stations of the city as center locations. Moreover, an example is generated for computational analysis. Results show that when the predetermined vertices are close to the ends of the tree, higher cost will be imposed. Yet, in most cases, this condition is impossible.
