- چکیده انگلیسی: Background and objectives: In recent years, biological control of parasites by essential oils (EOs) derived from plants is one of the alternatives to synthetic pesticides.Melissa officinalis from Lamiaceae family is distributed in many parts of Iran. It is known as an excellent source of antioxidants, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal constituents. The present study investigated the insecticide properties of M. officinalis against Tetranychus urticae tick. Methods: The EO of different parts of plant was extracted and analyzed by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The ticks were placed on the filter paper in the bottom of a petri dish (9 mm), and contact toxicity assay was then performed by contacting the extract with the ticks. Results: The EO of leaves showed the most potent insecticidal effect while the stem EO demonstrated the weakest effect. The lowest concentration of EO from the leaves showed more considerable insecticide activity compared to the highest concentration of stem and flower EOs. Conclusion: Melissa officinalis is an effective insecticide with potent effect against T. urticae and it could be suggested as a natural pesticide against T. urticae.

- چکیده انگلیسی: In this research, ZnO nanoparticles modified with imidazole in O-xylene solution and characterized with Fourier transform infrared FTIR spectroscopy. Then, polyaniline-ZnO unmodified and imidazole modified nanocomposites were synthesized via in-situ emulsion polymerization method. The synthesized nanocomposites were characterized by FTIR and scanning electron microscopy SEM. The anti-corrosion behavior of the epoxy coating in the presence of unmodified ZnO, imidazole modified ZnO, polyaniline-ZnO unmodified and imidazole modified were studied in NaCl 3.5 wt solution at 65 ℃ for 100 h by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy EIS. The coating resistance Rcoat of epoxy coating containing unmodified ZnO, imidazole modified ZnO, polyaniline/ unmodified ZnO and polyaniline/ imidazole modified ZnO after 100 h immersion in saline electrolyte found to be 7.2×104 , 1.3×105 , 2.3×105 and 1.7×107 Ω cm2, respectively. It can be seen that polyaniline/ imidazole modified ZnO nanocomposite exhibited higher corrosion resistance and provided better barrier properties against ingress of corrosive electrolyte.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Oxidation behavior of AZ91D magnesium alloy with 3YSZ coating and aluminum interlayer was studied in air at 250 °C using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy EIS, scanning electron microscopy SEM, and X-ray diffraction XRD. The oxidation process was carried out in various duration times from 1 to 10 h. A three-electrode electrochemical cell was employed for all the EIS measurements. Also, to focus on the characteristics of the oxide films, a nonaggressive electrolyte 0.1 M Na2SO4 was used. The EIS data were interpreted with a two-layered model, and the obtained capacitance and resistance are related to the thickness and defectiveness of YSZ coating and oxide film which was formed during the oxidation process. The results showed that after 6 h of oxidation time, the defects are produced in YSZ coating and it helps to increase the thickness of the oxide film. Also, XRD results revealed that the oxide films were mainly composed of Al2O3 and MgAl2O4 phases. The oxide film remained protective during extra oxidation period. In addition, the electrochemical model was supported by SEM observations.

- چکیده انگلیسی: The zirconia stabilized by 3mol % Y2O3 (3YSZ) was applied onto the surface of the magnesium alloy AZ91D using electrophoretic deposition (EPD) from a non- aqueous solution. A Ni-P interlayer between the substrate and YSZ coating was also prepared by electroless plating. Finally, coatings were heat treated in control atmosphere at 400 °C. The preparation, microstructure and corrosion resistance of the coatings were investigated. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to investigate the morphology of coatings. In addition, compositions of surface were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The corrosion resistance of the coatings was evaluated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in 3.5% NaCl solution. Also, the stability of coating was investigated by the Rockwell C indentation test (VDI 3198 norm). The results indicate that Ni-P interlayer can improve the quality of zirconia coating on the surface. Also, the Ni-P interlayer and YSZ coating increase the charge-transfer resistance of AZ91D surface in chloride solution.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Debonding of face-core interface is the most important damage mechanisms which make loss of structural integrity in sandwich structures. In this paper, mode-I and mode-II fracture of face-core interface in sandwich structures have been investigated under both static and fatigue loadings. The considered sandwich structures contain of different face sheet fiber-metal laminates and the core material is polyvinyl chloride foam. Several specimens are fabricated and the experiments are carried out to find the effects of initial debonding location and various fiber-metal laminate face sheets on the fracture toughness under static and fatigue loadings. Double cantilever beam specimens are used for mode-I and end notch flexure specimens for mode-II loading conditions. The resistance strength curves are plotted for mode-I and mode-II under static loading to find the instability point which is the border of stable and unstable crack growth and determine the critical crack length too. The strain energy release rates of mode-I and mode-II are also obtained for fatigue loading to investigate the resistance against damage evolution. Also, the global damage parameter is defined for both static and fatigue loading which is the combination of all damage mechanisms occurred in sandwich structures. Finally, the more efficient layup configurations under static and fatigue loadings among the investigated layups are introduced in mode-I and mode-II fracture conditions separately.
