- چکیده انگلیسی: Background & aim: Preterm delivery is one of the most important problems in pregnancy, as it is the primary cause of 75% of prenatal mortality and morbidities. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and risk factors for preterm delivery in Tehran, Iran.
Methods:In this cross-sectional study performed in eight random hospitals from five different regions of Tehran (North, South, West, East, and center), the prevalence of preterm delivery was evaluated and the most frequent risk factors were identified. Samples were divided into preterm delivery (n=140) and term delivery (n=100) groups. Questionnaires were completed through interviews with mothers and using patient records. To analyze the data, Chi-square test was run, using SPSS version 16.
Results: About 13,281 deliveries were included in the study. The highest and lowest prevalence of preterm delivery were 6.30% and 0.77% in the North and East regions of Tehran, respectively. The overall prevalence of preterm delivery was 1.52% in Tehran. In the preterm group, age ≥35 years, pre-mature rupture of membranes, bleeding, gestational hypertension, history of preterm delivery and abortion, multiple pregnancy, and preeclampsia were significantly more frequent than the term delivery group.
Conclusion: Spontaneous preterm birth was one of the major causes of maternal and neonatal morbidity; therefore, identification of its risk factors would be beneficial.- انتشار مقاله: 20-12-1394

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background
Prevalence of hypertension has a relatively high prevalence especially in developing countries. In order to prevent and control the disease, it is important to know the extent of the complications. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between pregnancy-induced hypertension with neonatal and maternal complications.
Materials and Methods
This prospective, descriptive study was conducted on 230 overweight women, with hypertension (n=115) and normal blood pressure (n=115) during pregnancy, referring to Hamedan hospitals. Researcher-made questionnaire including demographic characteristics and maternal and neonatal complications were used to collect required data. Data analysis was performed using Chi-square, t-test and ANOVA based on the difference between the data at a level of error less than 5%.
Results: There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of demographic characteristics, smoking history, and mean weight, number of pregnancies, number of births, history of abortion and the reception of care during pregnancy (P > 0.05). Significant relationship was observed between pregnancy and maternal outcomes, such as cesarean section, infection, bleeding, hydramnios, diabetes, proteinuria, edema, headache and hospitalization time, as well as neonatal outcomes such as low birth weight, preterm delivery, Apgar, and longer hospitalization (P <0.05).
Conclusion
Regarding the proved significant relationship between pregnancy and maternal hypertension, it is highly recommended to prevent these complications by controlling the blood pressure and providing necessary measures during pregnancy.- انتشار مقاله: 20-02-1397

Objective: Pap smear test is an appropriate screening method for early diagnosis of cervical cancer and reduction of mortality. This study targeted effects of group counseling based on the Health Belief Model on cervical cancer screening practices of Iranian rural women. Method: This quasi-experimental study was conducted on 80 rural women under coverage of the health care centers in rural areas in the city of Kabudrahang, Iran, in 2015. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire covering demographic information, Health Belief Model (HBM) constructs and screening performance. Data were collected using a multi-stage sampling method. Group counseling was conducted based on the Health Belief Model and the GATHER steps in three sessions for the intervention group. Counseling included an introduction to cervical cancer, disease symptoms, warning signs and prevention approaches. Pap smear testing in both intervention and control groups was evaluated two months after the group counseling. Results: Before the intervention, there was no significant difference between both groups in the HBM constructs and performance. After the intervention, a significant difference was seen in the perceived susceptibility (P<0.001), severity (P=006), benefits (P=012), barriers (P<0.001), and self-efficacy (P=002). Two months after the intervention, 17 patients (42.5%) in the intervention group, and 4 patients (10%) in the control group had undergone a Pap smear test (P<0.001). Conclusion: Design and implementation of counseling programs based on the HBM can modify the beliefs of rural women regarding cervical cancer screening and increase their performance.- انتشار مقاله: 18-11-1395
