- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective(s): Melatonin, an important hormone secreted by the epiphysis, is a powerful anti-oxidant with a high potential to neutralize medical toxins. The goal of this study was to demonstrate the beneficial effect of melatonin on epididymal sperm and reproductive parameters in mice treated with acetylsalicylic acid (ASA).
Materials and Methods: Male adult mice were divided into four treatment groups: control, ASA, melatonin, and ASA+melatonin. Mice were administered ASA (50 mg/kg, orally) and/or melatonin (10 mg/kg, intraperitoneally), or vehicle control, for 14 days. Sperm count, sperm motility, and sperm morphology were evaluated to assess fertility. A colorimetric assay was used to measure serum total antioxidant capacity (TAC). A sperm chromatin dispersion (SCD) test was used to assess sperm chromatin integrity. Sex hormone levels were measured by ELISA.
Results: Compared to the control group, ASA treatment resulted in a significant decrease in sperm parameters (P<0.05), as well as a decrease in the integrity of sperm chromatin (P<0.01). ASA treatment also reduced serum testosterone and TAC levels (P<0.05). Co-administration of melatonin with ASA significantly improved epididymal sperm parameters and increased serum testosterone and TAC levels compared to the ASA-treated group. LH level was not different in the combined treatment group compared to control or ASA treatment.
Conclusion: Short-term administration of ASA (50 mg/kg) has adverse effects on male reproductive function in mice. Co-administration of melatonin protects against ASA-induced impairment of male reproductive function by preventing the reduction in serum TAC and testosterone levels seen with ASA treatment alone.- انتشار مقاله: 04-03-1396

- چکیده انگلیسی: Preoperative bowel preparation was previously strictly done for all patient undergoing colorectal surgeries. With advances in the
surgical techniquesandpatient care, the role of bowel preparation in surgical complications is questioned. In this studywedescribe
a non-randomized retrospective analysis of 193 patients who underwent left colon and rectal resections in two different hospitals,
the preoperative bowel preparation regimens were different in two hospitals. Both regimens contain mechanical preparation with
polyethylene glycol, however, one hospital administered erythromycin and neomycin and the other hospital did not. From 74 patients
receiving oral antibiotic eight (10.8%) one developedwoundinfection and from 119 patientswhodid not receive oral antibiotic
three (2.5%) patient developed wound infection. This difference was statistically significant. Regarding literature review, it is suggested
to omit oral antibiotic from preoperative bowel preparation regimens elective colorectal resections.

- چکیده انگلیسی: In this work, pyridine 4-carbaldehye semicarbazone Schiff base ligand (HL) was synthesized with condention of pyridine 4-carbaldehyde and semicarbazide hydrochloride in reflux method. The HL was characterized using the CHN elemental analysis, FT-IR, UV-Vis, and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The single crystals of HL prepared and used for the X-ray crystallography. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction revealed that, HL crystallized in a triclinic system with the space group P-1. The FT-IR spectra and X-ray crystallography results suggested that the HL ligand is in keto form.
