- چکیده انگلیسی: A one-month-old male terrier dog was referred in shock status with a history of anorexia, tachypnea, abdominal distention and progressive weight loss. Auscultation of right side of the lungs found enhanced respiratory noises. The thorough auscultation of the opposite side of the chest revealed the presence of typical intestinal sounds. Cardiac auscultation revealed muffled heart sounds and a diminished palpable precordial cardiac impulse was evident. The radiograph showed the presence of gas within the bowel in abrupt contrast to the adjacent structures of soft tissue opacity. Conservative treatment was failed and the animal died. At necropsy, cranial displacement of abdominal viscera into the pericardial sac was seen. A definitive diagnosis of peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia was made. Although congenital pericardial diseases are rare in dogs, awareness of the clinical manifestation of these kinds of defects combined with early use of available imaging modalities can yield a preoperative diagnosis.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective- To evaluate kidney hemodynamic response including blood flow velocity in segmental arteries shortly after administration of various dose of saffron extract (10, 40 and 90 mg/kg). Design- Technical assessment, experimental study. Animals- 20 healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats. Procedures- In this study, using a real-time pulsed doppler analysis, kidney hemodynamic response including blood flow velocity in segmental arteries shortly after administration of various doses of saffron (10, 40 and 90 mg/kg) was investigated and eventually the data represented for each group were interpreted into tissue changes blindly. Results- Saffron at a dose of 10 mg/kg significantly increased renal blood flow with minimum tissue side effects, while at the higher doses it was remarkably associated with tissue lesions such as ATN and glomerulopathy. Conclusion and Clinical Relevance- Saffron is a scarce and valuable crop because of the stigma’s charming fragrance and pleasant flavor, the aroma of which is naturally furnished by a desirable golden color when dried. Due to innate therapeutic properties, it has been a focus of interest for modern pharmacological studies to comprehensively recognize the advantages of using saffron, in the light of its low toxicity and powerful anti-oxidant properties. Beyond direct effects on the epithelial cell function, saffron significantly enhances vascular blood flow, resulting in an indirect control towards cardiovascular system. In conclusion, saffron therapy is recommended in ischemic conditions. The preferred doses ranged between 10 to 40 mg/kg. At the dose of 10 mg/kg lower tissue side effects is expected.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Case Description- A 2-years-old female Iranian cross-breed goat with a history of chronic anorexia and intermittent regurgitation after eating food or drinking water was referred to the Veterinary Clinic. Clinical Findings- In clinical examination, persistent fever, swelling of distal portion of the neck, clinical evidence of laryngeal and pharyngeal dysfunction was detected. Treatment and Outcome- A fiberoptic endoscopic examination and positive-contrast radiography revealed megaesophagus. The animal was not treated because of postoperative complications. Clinical Relevance- Megaesophagus is a dilatation and atony of the body of the esophagus which occurs sporadically in animals and rarely in ruminants.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective- To consider the possibility of ultrasonography evaluation of the plantar tendons and ligaments and prepare a standard reference for it. Design- Descriptive study Animals- 7 female healthy Caspian miniature horses'-age 7year- no clinical sign of lameness and prior to presentation. Procedure- The ultrasonography of the right and the left metatarsal region was performedusing a Pie Medical 100 Falco Vet and an 8MHZ linear transducer. The area forultrasonography was divided to 9 levels (1a-1b-2a-2b-3a-3b-4a-4b-5a), each 3 cm longafterwards. Results- All the structures started to appear with an acceptable contrast and visibility at the 2alevel. SDFT and DDFT were well observed from the level 2a however, no definite borderswere recognizable as ICL (except one case) and echogenicity of DDFT from the 2b level washyperechoic to isoechoic comparing SDFT and SL from this level observed the branching area was hyperechoic in compare with DDFT & SDFT, however MSL & LSL were hypoechoiccomparing SDFT and DDFT. There aren't any difference echogenicity between right and left hind limb. Conclusion and Clinical Relevance- Investigations have proved that there's no differencebetween the echogenicity of each ligament and tendon in different levels in the left and rightlimbs which was confirmed in the current inspection as wellThe conclusions of the current study on the Caspian horse were showen too that highlycompatible with the previous vestigations in horses on echogenicity and shape of the plantartendons and ligaments. Generally it is assumed that transverse images provide a better image oftendons and ligaments and any injury in any part of the above structures can be diagnosedeasily, however some probable injuries around the tendon may be left unseen in longitudinalimages.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective- To determine the possibility of three-dimensional ultrasonography (3DUS) and measurement of optical nerve sheet by this method. Design- Descriptive study. Animals- 10 mixed normal dogs (5males, 5 females), age 1-1.5 year, and weighting 15±5 kg Procedure- 3D ultrasounds of the eyes were evaluated and the normal optical nerves in 3DUS images were measured using Volouson 730 pro. Results- In the obtained 3D images vitreous body, anterior chamber, and lens cortex and nucleus showed a distinct anechogenic to hypoechogenic. Details of the eyes compartments were better observed by rotating the images in all possible angles and planes using 3D facilities. Anterior and posterior lens capsule and the optic disk were hyperechogenic. The mean optical nerve in males was: 3.85 mm and in females it was 3.86mm. There weren’t a significant difference between ocular nerve measurements of male and female dogs and left and right eyes. Conclusion and Clinical Relevance- The 3DUS gives useful images for teaching and diagnostic purpose and Lesions of the caudal portion of the orbit (e.g. optic nerve atrophy) are better visualized by this technique. The results of the eye 3DU in dogs showed marked advantages in image acquisition for interpretation of all aspects of the ocular structures. Measurement of the optic nerve by 3D ultrasonography and other methods such as CT scan and direct measurement did not have any significant difference.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Background & Objective:This study aimed to investigate the effect of decellularized allogeneic bone graft enriched by periosteal stem cells (PSCs) and growth factors on the bone repair process in a rabbit model, which could be used in many orthopedic procedures.
Methods: In this experimental study, a critical size defect (CSD) (10 mm) was created in the radial diaphysis of 40 rabbits. In group A, the defect was left intact with no medical intervention. In group B, the defect was filled by a decellularized bone graft. In group C, the defect was implanted by a decellularized bone graft enriched with platelet growth factors. In group D, the defect was treated by a decellularized bone graft seeded by periosteal mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Also, in group E, the defect was filled by a decellularized bone graft enriched with platelet growth factors and periosteal MSCs. Radiological evaluation was done on the first day and then in the second, fourth, and eighth weeks after the operation. The specimens were harvested on the 28th and 56th postoperative days and evaluated for histopathological criteria.
Results: The radiologic and microscopic analysis of the healing process in bone defects of the treated groups (C, D, and E) revealed more advanced repair criteria than those of groups A and B significantly (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Based on this study, it appears that implantation of concentrated PSCs in combination with growth factors and allogeneic cortical bone graft is an effective therapy for the repair of large bone defects.- انتشار مقاله: 29-10-1397
