- چکیده انگلیسی: Haemangioma is a benign tumor of vascular endothelial cells or their progenitors. In spring of 2016, an Acipenser baerii, (+3 years, 2.2 kg weight) was reffered to the Department of Aquatic Animal Health, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz. After dissection it was found that the heart had a cobblestone appearance which was characterized by multiple dark red cysts with different sizes (2-5 mm). According to microscopic results, epicardial cavernous hemangioma was diagnosed. To the best of the author’s knowledge, this is the first report of primary epicardial cavernous hemangioma in Acipenser baerii.

- چکیده انگلیسی: The importance of rainbow trout (Onchorhynchus mykiss) in Iran aquaculture industry on one hand, and increasing the mortality of this fish due to outbreaks of infectious diseases, on the other hand, indicate the requirement for more profound understanding the rainbow trout immune system and access to laboratory tools for definitive diagnosis of its diseases. One of the most important defense mechanisms of vertebrates including fish is the production of immunoglobulin against microbial pathogens. In rainbow trout, dominant immunoglobulin in serum is immunoglobulin M (IgM). The purpose of this study was the cloning and expression of the constant region of rainbow trout IgM heavy chain (µ chain) gene in Escherichia coli. Therefore, RNA of the targeted gene was extracted from spleen and head kidney of rainbow trout and the constant region of µ chain was amplified by RT-PCR. The amplified fragment was ligated to pMALc2x vector and transferred to DH5α strain of E. coli. Recombinant vector transformed and expressed into E. coli Rosetta strain. SDS-PAGE analysis indicated the production of a recombinant protein with an expected molecular weight of 75 KDa. Thereafter, the recombinant protein was purified by amylose resin and its antigenicity was accessed by immunoblotting. Positive reaction of the expressed protein with anti-trout serum indicated that the expressed constant region of trout µ chain possess antigenic epitopes and could be applied in future immunological studies.

- چکیده انگلیسی: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical, histopathological and hematological effects of Mesobuthus eupeus venom on chicken organs. Adult chickens were subcutaneously injected with five doses of M. eupeus venom (0.5, 2, 5, 10 and 20 mg/kg; four chickens per each dose). Symptoms were recorded during the experiment and blood samples were collected for hematological analysis. Moreover, a complete necropsy was performed. After macroscopic examination, tissue samples were obtained from the liver, kidneys, heart, lungs, intestines and brain of the chickens three days after venom administration. In intravenous injection, lethal dose of the venom was determined at 15 mg/kg. The first clinical, pathological and hematological symptoms in envenomated chickens were observed at M. eupeus doses of 2, 5 and 0.5 mg/kg, respectively. Hematological examination revealed a reduction in lymphocyte count following experimental envenomation, which returned to the pre-experiment level in almost all the cases. On the other hand, heterophil count was found to increase during the experimental period. In addition, erythrocyte count and hematocrit level were stable at all the intervals. Pathological examination was indicative of severe pulmonary hemorrhage, pulmonary and cerebral edema, tubular necrosis of the kidneys, hemorrhage in kidneys and heart, hyaline thrombus and congestion of the liver. According to the results of this study, poultry are resistant to the toxic effects of M. eupeus venom.
