- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: The phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/ protein kinase B /mammalian target of rapamycin (PI3K/Akt/
mTOR) signaling regulates multiple cellular processes and organizes cell proliferation, survival, and differentiation
with the available nutrients, in particular, fatty acids. Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are cytotoxic to cancer cells
and play a critical role in the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) and diabetes mellitus (DM). PUFAs are produced in
the body by desaturases and elongases from dietary essential fatty acids (EFAs), primarily involving delta-6-desaturase
(D6D). D6D is a rate-limiting enzyme for maintaining many aspects of lipid homeostasis and normal health. D6D is
important to recognize the mechanisms that regulate the expression of this enzyme in humans. A lower level of D6D was
seen in breast tumors compared to normal tissues. Interestingly, the elevated serum level of D6D was seen in MS and
DM, which explains the critical role of D6D in inflammatory diseases. Methods: We searched databases of PubMed,
Web of Science (WOS), Google Scholar, Scopus and related studies by predefined eligibility criteria. We assessed
their quality and extracted data. Results: Regarding the mTOR signaling pathway, there is remarkable contributions of
many inflammatory diseases to attention to common metabolic pathways are depicted. Of course, we need to have the
insights into each disorder and their pathological process. The first step in balancing the intake of EFAs is to prevent
the disruption of metabolism and expression of the D6D enzyme. Conclusions: The ω6 and ω3 pathways are two major
pathways in the biosynthesis of PUFAs. In both of these, D6D is a vital bifunctional enzyme desaturating linoleic acid
or alpha-linolenic acid. Therefore, if ω6 and ω3 EFAs are given together in a ratio of 2: 1, the D6D expression will be
down-regulated and normalized.- انتشار مقاله: 04-07-1397

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Achievement of pathologic complete response (pCR) in breast cancer patients receiving neoadjuvant
chemotherapy (NAC) is associated with both overall survival and disease-free survival. The aim of present study was to identify clinical and pathological factors associated with achieving pCR in Iranian breast cancer patients receiving NAC. Methods: A retrospective review of all breast cancer patients treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy between April 2012 and September 2016 at our institution was performed; 207 cases were evaluable for analysis. pCR was defined as having no residual invasive tumor in the breast surgical specimen removed following neoadjuvant therapy. Results: In univariate analysis, factors associated with pCR were age less than 35 years (p = 0.03), absence of Lymphovascular invasion (LVI) (p = 0.002) and negative hormone receptor status (p = 0.003). Hormone receptor status (P = 0.01; OR, 2.45; CI, 1.20 - 4.99) and LVI (P = 0.001; OR, 0.22; CI, 0.10 - 0.46) remained predictive variables in multivariate analysis after correction for the other variables. Conclusions: In conclusion, the results of this study suggests that presence of Lymphovascular invasion and positive hormone receptor status are associated with poorer response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer patients.- انتشار مقاله: 19-02-1396

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Today, research is seen as an investment to promote innovation and maintain sustainable social-economic development
in all societies. The growth of scientific products and the expansion of knowledge in different scientific fields have
entailed more attention to assessments and the impact evaluation of both outcome and process of researchers in all fields.
In light of this need, policymakers in the medical field have paid more attention to evaluating the outcomes of research
in terms of its impact on the society using many different indicators. In this short communication, the performance of
scholarly published scientific products are discussed and the indicators that measure such impacts are evaluated and
recommendation is given to APJCP’ editorial board on how to align its activities toward achieving better impact and
scientometric measures for the journal.- انتشار مقاله: 23-07-1397

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Objectives: Colorectal cancer (CRC) may now be the second most common cancer in the world. The aim of this
study was to determine whether clusters of high and low risk of CRC might exist at the neighborhood level in Tehran
city. Methods: In this study, new cases of CRC provided from Cancer Registry Data of the Management Center of
Ministry of Health and Medical Education of Iran in the period from March 2008 to March 2011 were analyzed. Raw
standardized incidence rates (SIRs) were calculated for CRC in each neighborhood, along with ratios of observed to
expected cases. The York and Mollie (BYM) spatial model was used for smoothing of the estimated raw SIRs. To
discover clusters of high and low CRC incidence a purely spatial scan statistic was applied. Results: A total of 2,815
new cases of CRC were identified and after removal of duplicate cases, 2,491 were geocoded to neighborhoods. The
locations with higher than expected incidence of CRC were northern and central districts of Tehran city. An observed
to expected ratio of 2.57 (p<0.001) was found for districts of 2, 6 and 11, whereas, the lowest ratio of 0.23 (p<0.001)
was apparent for northeast and south areas of the city, including district 4. Conclusions: This study showed that there
is a significant spatial variation in patterns of incidence of CRC at the neighborhood level in Tehran city. Identification
of such spatial patterns and assessment of underlying risk factors can provide valuable information for policymakers
responsible for equitable distribution of healthcare resources.- انتشار مقاله: 12-03-1396
