- چکیده انگلیسی: Solubility data and tie-line points were experimentally determined for the ternary system (water + phosphoric acid + Heptyl acetate) at T = 298.2 K and ambient pressure. The cloud point method was used to measure the immiscibility region. Type-1 LLE behavior was observed for the investigated system and the plait point data were calculated using the Treybal’s method. The compositions of both aqueous and esteric layers were determined by using of acid-base titration, HPLC method and mass balance equation. The Othmer–Tobias and Hand equations were applied to prove the reliability of tie-line data. Obtained tie-line points were then correlated using the UNIQUAC model and the rmsd results showed that the measured points were satisfactorily regressed by the thermodynamic model. To evaluate the ability of the studied solvent for purification of phosphoric acid, distribution coefficients and separation factors were calculated over the biphasic area. Separation factors were greater than one in all investigated feeds of phosphoric acid for the studied system. Heptyl acetate showed the highest separation factors between all the investigated n-alkyl acetate esters.

- چکیده انگلیسی: This study demonstrates removal of phenol from aqueous solution using the carbons prepared from the natural sources, i.e. olive-pit, date-pit, and pomegranate-kernel in a batch system. For comparison purpose, the adsorption tests were also carried out on a commercial activated carbon. Influences of effective parameters such as pH, adsorbent dosage, contact time, phenol initial concentration and temperature on the removal of phenol from water were investigated. The optimum conditions for maximum adsorption were determined. In this work, the Langmuir and Freundlich models were chosen to evaluate the adsorption isotherms of phenol. The experimental isotherms showed that Freundlich isotherm fit adequately the experimental data for all adsorbents used. The adsorption data followed closely the pseudo-second-order. In addition, thermodynamic analysis was carried out for phenol adsorption. In this work, the two conventional analysis techniques, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), were used to investigate the structural and morphological properties of the adsorbents surface.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Liquid-liquid equilibria for the (water + lactic acid + benzyl alcohol or p-xylene) ternary systems were investigated at atmospheric pressure and in the temperature range from 298.15-318.15 K. The studied systems exhibit two types of liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) behavior. The system consisting of benzyl alcohol displays type-1 LLE behavior, while a type-2 behavior is exhibited by the other system. The quality of the experimental tie line data was determined using the Othmer-Tobias and Hand equations. Distribution coefficients and separation factors were calculated over the biphasic region. The experimental tie line data were regressed using the UNIQUAC and NRTL models and the binary interaction parameters were obtained.

- چکیده انگلیسی: This study demonstrates the spectral data for two triarylmethane dyes, malachite green (MG) and crystal violet (CV) at room temperature. Effects of micellar environment, and crown ether addition on the spectral behaviour of the dyes were studied using absorption spectroscopic method. The dye-anionic surfactant interactions in micellar media were investigated. The chosen surfactants with different alkyl chain length were SOS, STS, SHS and SDS. The effect of a crown-ether (i.e. aza-15-crown-5) addition on the absorption spectra and decolorization of the dyes was also studied at room temperature. Moreover, the effect of crown ether addition on the micellar properties of the media was also studied and compared. Spectroscopic analysis of the dyes shows that the dye decolorization can be accelerated by the crown ether. Conversely, the decolorization can be inhibited in the micellar media. The nature of decolorization process was interpreted through direct and indirect mechanisms of crown-ether and the dye interactions.
