- چکیده انگلیسی: As onomatopoeic words or expressions are attractive, the users of languages in the fields of religion, literature, music, education, linguistics, trade, and so forth wish to utilize them in their utterances. They are more effective and imaginative than the simple words. Onomatopoeic words or expressions attach us to the real nature and to our inner senses. This study aims at familiarity with onomatopoeia, its trans- lation, and usage by bringing pure studies on onomatopoeia into practice, and drawing a map of verbal onomatopoeic utterances in the nature more objectively. It also wishes to pave the way in future for providing onomatopoeic dictionaries and other reference books. To do so, it has primarily followed a library research by which the researcher gathered information through legitimate references and heuris- tically and qualitatively analyzed it. The pertinent instrumentation comprised in content analysis of Tintin’s story books in English language, and first and second translations in Persian language each in four volumes via Hinton et al.’s model of sound symbolism, semi-structured interview, and inter-rated coding with 10 readers and a publisher. Data analysis shows that Persian translations of onomatopoeias are phonetically and culturally adaptable to the original texts.

- چکیده انگلیسی: This study is the result of an attempt to investigate the differences between the Persian translated drama text (page) of each English drama text with its performance on the stage (stage) in Iran. In other words, the present researchers tried to find the implemented changes in page which make it real on the stage in the target language and culture in order to show that in drama translating and conducting it on the stage two different systems are at work: the literary system and the theatrical system. The Kowzan’s model (cited in Robert, 2009) has been chosen as the framework for this study. It introduces thirteen basic theatrical features which are used as the criterion for the comparison between the pages and stages. Five English drama texts, five translated drama texts (pages), and their stage performances (stages) in Iran were selected. After the analysis, the researchers found that most of the changes were in the systems word and movement. So, finding a stage performance different in some ways from its translated drama text is not the cause for the non-performability of that text, rather, it is because of the nature of the stage.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate a valid model for patients’ admission or discharge from emergency services to improve the health system and reduce costs.
Methods: This study was carried out using a prospective cohort method. The study population was patients with limb cellulitis referring to the emergency department of Peymanieh hospital. In this research, the study participants were separated into two groups based on the duration of hospitalization (hospital stay less than 24 hours or longer than 24 hours), then the patients were again separated into 4 groups based on the classification of the the Clinical Resource Efficiency Support Team (CREST) guideline, which in each of these groups the mean age, gender, and the prevalence of underlying diseases were identified and the final outcome for each group was determined after one week from the visit to the hospital.
Results: Peripheral vascular disease, history of injection drug use, immunodeficiency and congenital immune deficiency had a significant relationship with the rate of hospitalization and recurrence. There was a significant relationship between class 1 disease and hospitalization for less than 24 hours, classes 2 and 3, and hospitalization for more than 24 hours (P < 0.001). There was a significant relationship between grade 1 disease and non-recourse, grade 3 and recurrence within one week after initiation of the treatment (P < 0.001). But there was no relationship between grade 2 and grade 4 and the referral of the patient after treatment.
Conclusion: Corset Scale is a reliable scale for assessing the severity of the disease to determine the process of cellulite treatment for outpatient or hospitalization.- انتشار مقاله: 15-11-1398

- چکیده انگلیسی: The main aim of this study was to evaluate cardiovascular and respiratory outcomes attributed to PM10 in Kermanshah, Iran. In order to gather data, an Environmental Dust Monitor instrument was used at 3 stations throughout the city at a height of at least 3 m above the ground. We obtained an input file for the model from crude data and quantified PM10 using the AirQ model. Our estimation showed that 80% of cardiovascular deaths occurred on days with PM10 concentrations of less than 170 μgm-3. The number of respiratory deaths due to PM10 was estimated to be 46 people in 2011, showing a 48% reduction in such deaths compared to 2010. The number of patients with respiratory problems attributed to PM10 exposure comprised 5.61% of the total number of patients admitted to hospitals due to respiratory diseases. This lower percentage of morbidity and mortality attributed to suspended particles in Kermanshah in 2011, in comparison with 2010, was due to the higher exposure days with PM10 concentration of 200-250 μgm-3 in 2010. Every 10 μgm-3 increase in the concentration of suspended particles led to a 0.8 and 1.2% rise in the mortality rate due to cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, respectively. Additionally, the rates of heart and respiratory problems increased by 0.9 and 0.8%, respectively.

- چکیده انگلیسی: The interdependency between education and psychology has been valued for a long time and the educational psychology as an interdisciplinary field reconciling these two disciplines has been introduced to the field of teacher education. However, theoretically present in teacher training programs, the practical ways of applying educational psychology has not gained enough attention. The interviews with 21 Iranian EFL teachers and educators reveal that those teachers start their career after doing a teacher education course, do not have enough awareness to deal with learners’ cognitive and emotional problems. Therefore, the researchers tried to put psychological theories into practice through assigning some mini-action research during the teacher education courses. To check the effectiveness of the method, two groups (experimental and control) were selected and then their awareness of psychological issues while reflecting on their teaching process were compared after the treatment. The qualitative findings of the study indicate that the method was successful in increasing pre-service teachers’ psychological awareness towards language teaching. The method is beneficial for those designing and planning teacher education courses.

- چکیده انگلیسی: This mixed-methods study aimed at investigating the effects of a gadget-based Internet multimedia extensive reading program on promoting language proficiency. In so doing, a pretest-posttest design was applied in the quantitative phase to comparatively analyze outcomes of three classes of college-level EFL learners (two experimental groups and one control, each including 30 university students) on how much they improved in their receptive proficiency, before and after the general English language course they were taking. The first group took the General English course along with a multimedia-based Internet extensive reading program as the study’s treatment, and the second group took a linear text (traditional) extensive reading program with their English course. The posttest scores showed that students in experimental group 1 (extensive reading using multimedia texts) outperformed both experimental group 2 (extensive reading using linear texts) and the control group. Furthermore, experimental group 2 had higher scores in comparison to the control group. As for the qualitative phase, results of the follow-up interviews and open-ended questionnaires also indicated that the learners liked, and would prefer to substitute traditional reading programs by gadget-based multimedia ones. EFL teachers may be most interested in outcomes of this study since insights may be gained regarding the extent to which Internet-based reading should enter language courses.

- چکیده انگلیسی: A significant proportion of academic exercise today, even for those who do not speak English as a first language, has to do with the English Internet and the texts within. Accordingly, the present study focused on examining the effects of extensive multimedia-based English Internet reading on enhancing motivation in EFL learners’ English reading. Specifically, the quasi-experimental pretest-post-test design was used to compare the performance of three groups of Iranian university EFL students (i.e., one control and two experimental groups) in terms of their degrees of motivation, prior to and following university-level general English courses which included a multimedia-based Internet extensive reading program on the one hand, and a linear text extensive reading program on the other. Analysis of the results revealed that the extensive reading of both linear and multimedia Internet texts enhanced Iranian EFL readers' reading motivation, an enhancement which was not observed in the motivation of the participants in the control group who did not experience any such program. However, there was no statistically significant difference observed in the amount of motivation improvement between the linear text and the multimedia Internet groups. Teachers may be the most beneficiaries of the present study as they can gain insights into how far they should enter the realm of integrating Internet-based reading programs into general English courses.

- چکیده انگلیسی: Cedar and elm woods were investigated for the microbial production of xanthan gum using a commercial strain of Xanthomonas campestris. However, the yields of xanthan gum from untreated woods were inefficient. Thus, dilute phosphoric acid (1-2% w/v) pretreatment at elevated temperatures (140-180 °C) for 10-20 min and concentrated phosphoric acid (85% w/v) pretreatment at 60 °C for 1-3 h were applied to increase production yields. Concentrated acid pretreatment resulted in the highest yields of 9.9 and 10.4 g xanthan gum per 100 g of raw cedar and elm wood, respectively, whereas the untreated woods yielded 2.0 and 2.4 g xanthan gum per 100 g of raw woods. Dilute acid pretreatment was not as efficient as concentrated acid pretreatment, resulting in 4.2 and 5.2 g xanthan gum per 100 g of cedar and elm, respectively. Consequently, the woods are suitable substrates for xanthan gum production after pretreatment with concentrated phosphoric acid at 160 °C for 1 h. The quality of produced xanthan gum was also compared with a commercial xanthan gum using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and the results indicated that the produced xanthan gum was similar to the commercial product. Although the pretreatments presented in this study increased the xanthan gum yield up to fourfold, it was at the expense of increasing pretreatment costs. This research provides the basis for the economic analysis required for the commercial implementation of these pretreatments.
