- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Coronavirus outbreak has affected thousands of people in at least 186 countries which has affected the cancer care delivery system apart from affecting the overall health system. Cancer patients are more susceptible to coronavirus infection than individuals without cancer as they are in an immunosuppressive state because of the malignancy and anticancer treatment. Oncologists should be more attentive to detect coronavirus infection early, as any type of advanced cancer is at much higher risk for unfavorable outcomes. Oncology communities must ensure that cancer patients should spend more time at home and less time out in the community. Oncologists and other health care professionals involved in cancer care have a critical opportunity to communicate to their patients to pass on right information regarding practice modifications in view of COVID-19 outbreaks. Countries must isolate, test, treat and trace to control the coronavirus pandemic. There is a paucity of information on novel coronavirus infection and its impact on cancer patients and cancer care providers. To date, there is no scientific guideline regarding management of cancer patients in a background of coronavirus outbreak.

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Treatment for cervical cancer consists of hysterectomy, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and targeted therapy in different combination based on stage at presentation. However, late consequences of such radical treatments are known but not many Indian studies have reported it. Quality of life and impact on sexual health has become an important issue in view of long survival of cervical cancer patients. LENTSOMA scale is one such scale validated for scoring radiotherapy related morbidity. However, there is need for a comprehensive scale covering all aspects of physical and psychological disruptions to provide complete recovery and rehabilitation. The study was prospective and patients who were treated for cervical cancer on follow up were included in this study. A total of 85 patients, who were treated with surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy alone or in combination, comprising of stage I to stage IV disease, participated in this study. Findings of this study showed that pain during intercourse and altered sexual life were reported by 32.9% and 25.9% patients respectively whereas 24.7% found it problematic and in 22.3% patients, alteration in interest in sex were reported. Vaginal stenosis was seen in 75.29% of patients after treatment with decreased frequency of intercourse after treatment was seen in 16.4 % of patients. Combination of surgery and radiotherapy in cervical cancer patients caused more sexual dysfunction and dissatisfaction, especially in lower age group. Treatment morbidity in term of sexual function was more with advanced stage disease and with the patients on longer follow up. Sexual function is an important aspect of quality of life but there is no single self-report measure in routine clinical follow up use which is brief, easy to complete and incorporates all (physical, psychological, emotional) aspects of sexual health for people affected by cancer.

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Background: Carcinoma cervix is the second most common type of cancer in the world. With the increasing
proportion of women surviving carcinoma of the cervix, quality of life has been an important clinical issue. Since
there are very few studies from India, this study is to assess urinary dysfunction issues in patients of carcinoma cervix
treated with multimodality therapy using the LENT SOMA scores. Methods: The study was prospective and patients
treated between 1995 - 2007 on follow up were included in this study after ethical clearance. A total of 85 patients
were accrued comprising 6 stage IB, 6 stage II A, 25 stage II B, 2 stage IIIA, 45 stage III B and 1 stage IV A disease.
Sixty-six patients were treated with radiotherapy in which 46 patients received chemoradiotherapy and 19 had surgery
prior to post-operative radiotherapy. The mean age was 47.81 years with a range of 25-68 years. Completion of LENT
SOMA scale and Statistical analysis was done. Results: Mean score for BU (Bladder/Urethra) was highest (0.0758) in
fifth year of treatment whereas UK (Ureter/Kidney score was highest (0.0408) after 4 years. Bladder score was more in
60-69 years of age and in stage IIIB patients of cervical cancers. Bladder morbidity was more in patients who received
chemoradiotherapy and in patients who received radiotherapy with boost where Bladder and Urethra morbidity was more
in patients who were treated with Extended Field radiation. Conclusions: The LENT SOMA system was acceptable
and feasible to use and gave us an insight into the morbidity in our patients and to develop effective management plans
to reduce the post treatment symptoms and improve quality of life.- انتشار مقاله: 07-06-1397

- چکیده انگلیسی: Over the past 40 years mortality from carcinoma of the cervix has fallen due to improved treatment and the
introduction of national screening programs. Awareness and health-seeking practices have been shown to be poor in
many developing countries, necessitating the need for proper awareness and vaccination program The HPV vaccination
is of public health importance. The Indian Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Immunization (IAPCOI) recommends
offering HPV vaccine to all females who can afford the vaccine. Vaccination can be given to females as young as
9 years as well as in those aged 13–26 years who have not previously completed vaccination. The primary obstacle
to HPV vaccination is financial. There are bivalent, Quadrivalent and Nonavalent HPV vaccines available based on
protection against number of HPV subtypes. HPV vaccination and regular cervical screening is the most effective way
to prevent cervical cancer. Parents/caregivers of child must be educated regarding HPV vaccination before offering this
chemoprophylaxis against cervical cancer. Gaps and barriers to the access and delivery of HPV vaccination need to be
identified, so that scientific and public health communities and civil society can be mobilised to adopt the vaccination
policy.- انتشار مقاله: 07-08-1397

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Cancer has become an important public health issue in India. Oncologists in India spends most of their time in
diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients. There is a large disparity geographically as far as cancer treatment facilities
are concerned. Cancer control and cancer prevention is not a point of concern for most of the practicing oncologist.
Although things are changing in India, but orientation, passion and dedication towards cancer prevention is still missing.
There is no program on basic principles and practice of cancer control and prevention in India which addresses the
essence of cancer control and prevention. Center for Global Health of National Cancer Institute, USA initiated summer
curriculum is an excellent academic program to teach health care professionals working in cancer care in different parts
of world. This covers all aspect of cancer care i.e. cancer education, epidemiology, screening, diagnosis, treatment
and the before world palliative care with dedicated session on upcoming molecular prevention in cancer. This gives
an unique opportunity for learning and can be practice changing curriculum for many of the attendees who want to
pursue a career in cancer control and prevention a before practice.- انتشار مقاله: 24-08-1396

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی:
Oral Mucositis (OM) is among the most common and dreaded toxicities of cancer therapy. It occurs in almost all patients who receive radiation therapy in which areas of oral and oropharyngeal mucosa are included in the treatment field. With the advent of chemotherapy in 1940 and its extended clinical legacy, it is only within the past two decade or so that mucositis’ complex pathobiology has become fully appreciated. There are still many unanswered questions about the risk factors for developing OM, but historically, risk factors have been attributed to both therapy and patient m characteristics. One thing that has been consistent from the initial descriptions of its clinical manifestations has been the frustration on the part of clinicians and patients with the scarcity of therapeutic options to prevent or treat the condition, or effectively ameliorate the symptoms. Clinicians, researchers and those involved in oral and periodontal medicine should join hand in hand in persuit of understanding and developing treatment strategies for treatment of inflammatory conditions like OM in oncology. This will lead to development of effective treatments and reducing the burden of OM and other inflammatory conditions in oncology.- انتشار مقاله: 01-03-1396
