- چکیده انگلیسی: Fatigue along with pronated feet during running are possible risk factors for injuries. Motion control shoes were designed to limit excessive foot motion in runners, but its clinical efficacy has not been well reported. This study investigated the ground reaction force characteristics in novice female runners with pronated feet during running with different footwear before and after fatigue of the lower limb muscles. 22 novice female runners with pronated feet were volunteered to participate in this study. A Kistler force plate and a Vicon three-dimensional motion analysis system were used to record the ground reaction forces and gait pattern of participants, when running with motion control shoes and control shoes before and after fatigue of the lower limb muscles.
Results: The results of this study showed that the frequency with a power of 99.5% of in the vertical ground reaction force with the motion control shoes were lower than that control shoes during post-test. the frequency with a power of 99.5% of in the anterior-posterior Center of pressure ground reaction force with the motion control shoes were greater than that motion control shoes during pre-test. the frequency with a power of 99.5% of in the Medio-lateral Center of pressure ground reaction force with the motion control shoes were greater than that control shoes during pre-test. the frequency with a power of 99.5% of in the free moment ground reaction force with the control shoes were greater than that control shoes during post-test.- انتشار مقاله: 23-10-1397

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Our objective was designing and producing a mechanical starting block and then compare the results with routine starting block in sprinting. A 2D sketch was designed using SOLIDWORKS Software. The body of the starting block with dimensions of 75×22×7 cm was developed with iron alloys during two stages. Starting block pedals were designed and manufactured with dimensions of 20×12 cm. Each pedal was connected to the starting block body using a 10 cm sliding connector to have the ability to change the horizontal distance between the pedals. The results from the first sample indicated that the board had not sufficient strength during sprinting start. In the second design, inclinable pedals in selectable 30, 45, and 65 degrees fabricated with 6 mm metal plate. Twelve replaceable nails for Tartan surface mounted on the front and end nail-holder plates. In order to evaluate the starting block, 20 athletics with mean age, height, weight and history of exercise (21.6 ± 2.3 year, 178.1 ± 5.2 cm, 68.7 ± 6.1 kg, and 5.2 ± 0.8 year, respectively) evaluated their sprinting performance under supervision of two referees and five coaches using a questionnaire. By changing the design and new product, the second prototype was evaluated. The final sample indicated that the boards and pedals had sufficient strength and robustness. The level of satisfaction of runners, coaches and referees were significantly different from the traditional starting block (p<0.05). The Test-Retest Reliability test using the Pearson Correlation Coefficient computed from responses to the questionnaires shown perfect correlated (r = 0.83, P < 0.0001). According to the results, the final starting block had sufficient robustness and is suitable for using in the research and official competitions.

- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی:
Objective: Unaccustomed and intense eccentric exercise is a common cause of delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS). There are multiple remedies for the treatment of DOMS, but its clinical and laboratory pieces of evidence are scarce. Currently, the treatments proposed for DOMS are numerous and include pharmaceuticals, herbal remedies, stretching, massage, nutritional supplements, and other alternatives. To find a holistic treatment with effective pain relief and minimum side effects, complementary and alternative medicine, including herbal therapies, plays a main role.
Methods: In this review, the existing published studies investigating the efficacy of herbal and natural supplementation therapies for the prevention or treatment of side effects, symptoms, and signs of DOMS are summarized.
Results: Previous studies have documented the efficacy of herbal therapies to treat pain, inflammation, as well as laboratory and clinical side effects of DOMS.
Conclusion: The use of herbs in DOMS seems safer and has lower side effects than pharmacotherapy. However, the potential for side effects and drug interactions should be considered.- انتشار مقاله: 22-08-1394

- کلمات کلیدی: Nitrate,Exercise,Red radish,Watercress
- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective: Very recent studies have reported positive effects of dietary nitrate on the oxygen consumption during exercise. This research aimed to study the effect of moderate dose of high-nitrate vegetables, watercress (Nasturtium officinale) and red radish (Raphanus sativus) compared with a control group on the incremental treadmill exercise test following a standard Bruce protocol controlled by computer.
Materials and Methods: Group 1 consumed 100 g watercress (n=11, 109.5 mg nitrate/day), and group 2 consumed 100 g red radish (n=11, mg 173.2 mg nitrate/day) for seven days, and control group (n=14) was prohibited from high nitrate intake.
Results: During exercise, watercress group showed significant changes in the maximum values of Respiratory Exchange Ratio (RER) (p<0.05), End-Tidal O2 Fraction (FETO2) (p<0.05), and energy consumption from carbohydrate (p<0.01). Red radish group had a significant increase in the VCO2 (p<0.01), RER (p<0.01), VT (p<0.05), VCO2/kg (p<0.05), and energy consumption from carbohydrates (p<0.01). When all groups in the same workload were normalized by the subject’s body mass, watercress had a significant increase in the total expired CO2 (p<0.05), RER (p<0.05), FETO2 (p<0.05), and energy consumption from carbohydrates (p<0.05) compared with the control group. Similar comparison between red radish and control group revealed a significant increase during pre-test in the total CO2 production (p<0.05), VCO2 (p<0.05), RER (p<0.01), VT (p<0.05), and VCO2/kg (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Current results indicate higher carbon dioxide production in the experimental groups in the same workload. This might have a negative impact on the exercise performance. Further investigations with controlled exercise program will be necessary.- انتشار مقاله: 19-07-1392

- کلمات کلیدی: Spirometry,Isometric force,Peppermint,Reaction time
- چکیده:
- چکیده انگلیسی: Objective: Effect of peppermint on exercise performance was previously investigated but equivocal findings exist. This study aimed to investigate the effects of peppermint ingestion on the physiological parameters and exercise performance after 5 min and 1 h.
Materials and Methods: Thirty healthy male university students were randomly divided into experimental (n=15) and control (n=15) groups. Maximum isometric grip force, vertical and long jumps, spirometric parameters, visual and audio reaction times, blood pressure, heart rate, and breath rate were recorded three times: before, five minutes, and one hour after single dose oral administration of peppermint essential oil (50 µl). Data were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA.
Results: Our results revealed significant improvement in all of the variables after oral administration of peppermint essential oil. Experimental group compared with control group showed an incremental and a significant increase in the grip force (36.1%), standing vertical jump (7.0%), and standing long jump (6.4%). Data obtained from the experimental group after five minutes exhibited a significant increase in the forced vital capacity in first second (FVC1)(35.1%), peak inspiratory flow rate (PIF) (66.4%), and peak expiratory flow rate (PEF) (65.1%), whereas after one hour, only PIF shown a significant increase as compare with the baseline and control group. At both times, visual and audio reaction times were significantly decreased. Physiological parameters were also significantly improved after five minutes. A considerable enhancement in the grip force, spiromery, and other parameters were the important findings of this study.
Conclusion: An improvement in the spirometric measurements (FVC1, PEF, and PIF) might be due to the peppermint effects on the bronchial smooth muscle tonicity with or without affecting the lung surfactant. Yet, no scientific evidence exists regarding isometric force enhancement in this novel study.- انتشار مقاله: 18-03-1392
